The Toxic Avenger trailer unleashes Peter Dinklage as the grossest, sweetest superhero you’ll ever meet

He is one ugly... well, we aren't talking about a Predator. This is Peter Dinklage's The Toxic Avenger, which finally found its way to us after waiting for months. IGN recently shared its trailer, where we can see Dinklage playing the film's puke-worthy green protagonist, who will go on a murderous spree. Well, that’s for the bad guys to deal with.

It will be released on August 29, 2025, but it already had its screening at the Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2023. The film was having trouble finding a distributor due to its overly gory content, but Cineverse bought the distribution rights in January 2025.

While it will serve as a reboot, it is also the fifth installment in The Toxic Avenger franchise. The first film was released in 1984, starring Mitch Cohen as the protagonist, Toxie. In this one, other than Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, and more are in it.

The Toxic Avenger trailer breakdown

It begins with Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze, aka Toxie, lying on his bed, looking depressed as hell, like there's nothing good left to do with his life. He explains that they lost Shelly Gooze, whom Rebecca O'Mara portrays in the film, a year ago.

He is living his life with Jacob Tremblay's Wade Gooze, who, more or less, is giving us the same vibe. Depressing as hell, having breakfast that Dinklage's character made him. Though he praises, although reluctantly, his cooking skills, Winston simply takes that burnt bread back.

Toxie is then seen going out on the streets, and that is where we see the seed of evil in that trailer. A guy is holding this dog, whom he, at first, says that he doesn't want to hurt. But then he throws him away mercilessly from his car while enjoying that. Willem Dafoe's Jopling would approve of this.

When Wade asks him why he didn't do anything, Toxie implies that sometimes it's better that way. Later in The Toxic Avenger trailer, we meet Kevin Bacon's Bob Garbinger, a corrupt CEO who is enjoying having this award in his hands.

After the 1:00 mark, Winston finally becomes Toxie after he is thrown into toxic waste and emerges as what people would call a monster. Well, until he saves them from bad people.

The Toxic Avenger trailer then shows him trying to reunite with Wade, who, at first, hits him with an object, leading him to fall from a balcony onto a car. The car's owner sees that and shoots him with his gun, and there begins the action. He just rips that guy's arm off, sending the blood spurting all over the place. You'll also see something like that in the next The Naked Gun film, but that's not even close to being as disgusting.

By the end of The Toxic Avenger trailer, enough guts and blood have splattered, and Toxie has become a cute but disgusting hero with a toxic mop in his hand. However, gangsters and Bacon's Garbinger are after him, but Toxie is ready with his radiation-filled mop that'll go right through, well, any part of a human body.

While you may end up not eating your lunch or dinner after that, you might find yourself craving that movie ticket when it is released.
