The Old Guard 2 sees Charlize Theron's Andy back in action as she takes on an even bigger threat than pharmaceutical executive Merrick, the villain from the first film, released in 2020. Back then, she led a group of mercenaries with regenerative abilities to stop Merrick's firm from learning about their powers and using them merely as a prop to grow his business. At the time, Andy was joined by Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), and Nile (KiKi Layne). Nile was the youngest immortal of the group, while Andy was said to be the oldest.

Yet, the film didn't reveal Andy's specific age. She said that she is so old that she cannot even remember the faces of her mother or her sisters and relies on her imagination to make up what they might have looked like. So, the first film doesn't help us understand exactly how old she is. The sequel shows her stripped of her regenerative abilities, left to fight Discord (Uma Thurman), said to be the first-ever immortal. Based on what we learn in the movies, Andy is supposed to be about 1800-3000 years old. However, the original graphic novels, written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Leandro Fernández, say that her exact age is 6,732.

Andy is at the heart of the narrative in The Old Guard 2, which shows her trying to protect the Guard from the threats of Discord. Her job gets even as Quynh, who once was her love interest, reemerges as she escapes the dreadful punishment of eternal resurrection under water. The first movie indicates that Quynh was drowned about 500 years before the events in its narrative. So, she harbors a lot of hatred toward Andy for not helping her out of her misery. Once escaped, she teams up with Discord for a fight against Andy's Guard.

The Old Guard hints that Quynh, a Vietnamese immortal, was born in the early 500s AD. So, she must be about 1,500 years old around the time Andy fights against Merrick's evil. However, the graphic novel series follows Noriko, a Japanese immortal who reportedly fought with Andy for over two thousand years. That makes her even older than her movie version. Similarly, Andy's ferocious character receives a definitive age in the novels as opposed to the movies.

The first movie reveals that Andy's actual name is Andromache of Scythia (much like the novels). Scythia was a vast ancient empire that included parts of Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. It roughly spanned from the 9th century BCE to the 2nd century CE, which makes Andy at least 1,800 years old.

Otherwise, her name, Andromache, was a Trojan princess by marriage and a part of Greek mythology. Another mention of her name traces back to about the 13th or 12th century BCE as the queen of the Amazons. The graphic novels reveal that Andy is much older, having served humanity for over six millennia. So, unlike The Old Guard 2, the original text specifically reveals that she is 6,732 years old.

The Old Guard 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
