The Fantastic Four: First Steps seems closer to breaking a record in Disney's all-time chart of highest-earning movies in the domestic market.

According to The Numbers, the MCU's new project about Marvel's First Family has earned over $474 million worldwide, with $221 million overseas, and almost $253 million at the domestic market. With this figure, the movie currently stands at the 51st position on an all-time chart of highest-earning Walt Disney movies.

First Steps is shortly behind the 2024 live-action remake, Mufasa: The Lion King, which earned over $254 million for the studio through its run at the North American theaters. Based on Deadline's recent box office projections, ScreenRant has a reason to believe that First Steps will cross this mark in the next few days.

Hence, by earning more than $254 million domestically, The Fantastic Four: First Steps can be the 50th highest-grossing movie in the Disney Studio's catalogue. While it's not the blowout success that the studio may have hoped for, it's still something that Marvel fans might be interested in knowing about the highest-grossing MCU movie of 2025.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps has earned $474 million worldwide so far, and is ahead of Captain America: Brave New World ($414 million) and Thunderbolts* ($382 million).

The MCU's new movie about the Fantastic Four may not have broken major box office records, but it still touched the hearts of Marvel fans with some of its storytelling choices. Jack Kirby, who co-created these heroes with Stan Lee, was said to be one of the movie's inspirations. When speaking about Kirby's impact, Marvel's Kevin Feige said,

"Jack Kirby is, I think, one of the greatest storytellers and artists of the 20th century. What he did for Marvel has already been seen in every [movie] we’ve ever done. But we wanted it to be more than just a passing tip of the hat."

He further added,

"There are direct lines from his pencil that he drew with at his drawing board by himself, pouring his universe-spanning imagination onto the page. There are direct lines from there into this film. The Silver Surfer and the way she moves is a testament to some of his line work and his story work."

How do the Fantastic Four fit into Avengers: Doomsday? Here's what Kevin Feige said

Toward the end of First Steps, Sue Storm from the First Family saw Doctor Doom in her house, playing with her and Reed Richards' son, Franklin. The comic fans would know Reed and Victor Von Doom's rivalry and Victor's interest in Sue. For those who don't know the lore, here's what Kevin Feige said about how the quartet will be back in Avengers: Doomsday:

"That’s always fun. The fun of an Avengers movie is introducing people to each other and seeing how very different personalities get along. In the case of a movie that involves the threat of worlds literally colliding, it’s fun to see them visit each other’s homes."

He further added,

"So with the Baxter Building set, let’s say it had four or five people in it at most in the Fantastic Four movie. And it’s got a heck of a lot more people in it [in Doomsday]. It’s a thrill to see that interaction. And it’s surreal for me, who’s been around for 25 years."
