No Other Choice is a brand-new K-comedy coming your way, and it is already generating excitement about the unexpected appearance of revered filmmaker Park Chan-wook in front of the camera. The acclaimed director, known for works like Oldboy, The Handmaiden, and Decision to Leave, will play a major comedic role in his career.

"No Other Choice" is a new South Korean film directed by Park Chan-wook, who previously worked on "Oldboy" and "Decision to Leave." This movie, which blends suspense, drama, dark comedy, and crime, has already received high praise from critics.

Shortly after its September 17 debut at the Busan International Film Festival, the film was released in South Korea on September 24, 2025. Neon will begin screening at a few cinemas in the US on December 25 (Christmas Day). In January 2026, it will then expand to more theaters. While a streaming date hasn't been announced yet, it is expected to be available online after its theatrical run.

The story centers on Yoo Man-su, played by Lee Byung-hun. After losing his job at a paper mill, he is desperate to find work again. When he can't get a job, he comes up with a daring plan: to eliminate his competitors by taking matters into his own hands. The story is intense, but it also includes moments of dark humor, creating a one-of-a-kind experience.

No Other Choice is South Korea's official submission for the Best International Feature Film at the 2026 Academy Awards. It premiered to rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival on August 29, where it was nominated for the Golden Lion. Critics praised everything from its dark comedy to Lee Byung-hun's standout performance. With positive early reviews and a compelling premise, the film has the potential to be one of the year's most unforgettable foreign movies.
