“Your new boy’s a cameraman” — DJ Akademiks reacts to Halle Bailey’s cozy yacht hangout with mystery man in Italy

Halle Bailey's recent romantic getaway in Italy has taken the internet by storm. She was spotted with a mystery man on a yacht in Italy, and DJ Akademiks, who has had enough of Bailey, had something to say about it.

On his stream, he said:

“Your new boy’s a cameraman.”

The Little Mermaid star, Halle Bailey, who is 25, was seen spending some time with an unidentified male in Positano, Italy, over the weekend. Bailey took some time to enjoy the Mediterranean with her alleged new love interest while she was in the area filming Italianna, a romantic comedy directed by Kat Coiro.

The two were seen smiling, kissing, snuggling, and even taking pictures of one another on a private boat in the images, which were shared by websites like The Shade Room.

Bailey seemed at ease with the new mystery man, who is dark, tall, and has dreadlocks. The mystery man was wearing Nike swim trunks, and Halle was wearing a thong bikini. The two seemed to be having a good time, as the mystery man was seen taking photos of Halle diving.

The internet wasted no time celebrating her new man and glow up, but DJ Akademiks reacted differently.

In a recent broadcast, he made fun of Bailey's yacht images and mockingly called her mystery man a glorified assistant. He said:

"Your new boy's a cameraman."

making fun of the man's role in documenting their journey.

He then shifted his focus to more grave charges, restating his earlier comments that Bailey's allegations of domestic abuse against DDG may have been a ploy. He stated:

“If they can’t win the public narrative, they make the accusations.”

He continued:

"I keep telling you. All these women, something happen, they run to the bathroom to take pictures and they keep it in the tuck."

Halle Bailey's legal battle in the background

Amid a bitter custody dispute with her ex-boyfriend DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), Halle Bailey made her escape to Italy. Bailey accused the rapper of a string of unsettling episodes, including emotional abuse, physical assault, and harassment, and in May 2025, she was given a restraining order against him.

Halle Bailey says that during a fight in January, which started because she brought up a visitation schedule, he yelled at her:

"Get out of my car, B*TCH."

while she was fastening their child into his seat.

DDG then pulled her by her hair and then smacked her face into a steering wheel, causing bruising and a damaged tooth, according to court filings and TMZ reports.

She wrote on the court papers:

"We fought each other, wrestling and tussling. At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain."

Halle Bailey also displayed pictures of her wounds, which included bruises on her arms. He is also accused of sending her angry texts and unexpectedly visiting her house.

They share a one-year-old son named Halo. In May, Halle Bailey was given temporary sole custody; the final custody agreement will be decided at a hearing soon. DDG responded by requesting his own restraining order against Bailey in June, but the judge turned it down. According to Bailey's legal team, DDG is permitted supervised visits as long as a professional, not his family, watches over him.

As of now, Halle Bailey has not responded to any of Akademiks' remarks, and the identity of the mystery man is yet to be revealed.
