Why did Kelly Clarkson postpone the first two dates of her Las Vegas shows? Singer issues statement

Singer Kelly Clarkson took to her Instagram account to cancel two opening shows of her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on July 4, just 90 minutes before the show, "to protect" her voice from "doing serious damange." The singer expressed sorrow, since she and her team had been rehearsing diligently for the shows.

In the statement, Kelly Clarkson mentioned,

"We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow's opening at Caesars."

While opening up about the reason behind the cancellation, Kelly Clarkson said,

"The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y'all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve."

She then added,

"The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on."

In early February, the 42-year old singer, took to Instagram to announce the dates for her Las Vegas 2025 Residency. The singer mentioned that the residency will kick off on July 4, and will be called, Studio Sessions. The main residency is scheduled till August 16, accompanied by a shorter stint from November 7 to November 15.

In the caption, Kelly mentioned,

"I'm so excited to be back in Vegas! We're bringing the studio to the state this time with 'Studio Sessions"! See you soon! Be sure to sign up for fan club emails on my website, they could contain fun things! Link in Bio."

Earlier in May, 2025, the singer had revealed why she hasn't done a show in a while and why she won't be touring. During a concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the singer mentioned that she hasn't done a show in a while, "cause I have a talk show" adding that "it's like a whole other job." The singer also mentioned that she has her hands full prioritizing her two kids, River and Remington, while being a single mother.
