Dave Chappelle is slamming DJ Khaled for not speaking up on the ongoing tension in Gaza, despite having Palestinian roots.
During a recent performance at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, the comedian cum actor slammed the Palestinian-American artist for his silence, and also commented on his body.
“DJ Khaled, let me tell you something,” he began. “For a Palestinian, this man is awfully quiet right now. And as a Palestinian, how could you be that quiet right now? And why are you so fat? People are starving. He’s the only fat Palestinian on Earth right now.”
Dave Chappelle has been a vocal supporter of Palestinians since the war broke out back in 2023. During a performance in the UAE last year, he dubbed Israel's behavior as “genocide,” prompting the audience to roar in agreement.

Notably, Dave Chappelle is not the first to call out DJ Khaled for his silence. Back in February last year, Fadie Musallet, the musician's cousin, lamented the All I Do Is Win hitmaker's actions:
“There’s no reason, there’s no excuse when you’re actually a Palestinian,” he said in an interview at the time. “For me, my mother lives there. We’re from the same village, same families. So, there’s no excuse… I do a lot of work with refugee camps, raise money for Gaza and the West Bank. I put my heart into this.”
In another UAE performance, Dave Chappelle reiterated his support as he acknowledged the need to be more cautious going forward, especially when it comes to his criticism of Trump.
“Now that I’m a big powerful voice in America, I’ve learned that I have to be careful,” he said. “I can get in some kind of trouble and they’ll try to extort me and put words in my mouth. So if that ever happens, we need a phrase—something I’d never say—so that if I say it, you know not to listen to anything I say after that. You ready? The phrase is: I stand with Israel.”
In the past, the 51-year-old comedian has critiqued the president's handling of the conflict.
“Trump – I don’t know about this guy. I can’t tell if he's going to do good or not,” Chapelle said in the past, adding: “What a week you guys must have had over here in the Middle East.”
He went on, referring to Trump's comments on his Truth Social platform announcing the recent air strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran:
“Trump wrote that ‘we did a meticulously perfect attack. We have disabled their nuclear facility.’ And then at the end of the post he said, ‘And now is the time for peace!’ Word? I don’t think that’s how this works, champ."
In February this year, Dave Chappelle told his stand-up audience in San Francisco that while hosting the SNL opening monologue in January, producers of the show had barred him from speaking up about Gaza and transgender people, as reported by Variety. However, he did speak directly to Trump at the time, adding that an image of Jimmy Carter in Palestine left him with tears in his eyes:
“Please do better next time," he urged the president, before beseeching the audience, “Do not forget your humanity and please have empathy for displaced people whether they’re in the Palisades or Palestine.”
He went on,
“I’m tired of being controversial. I’m trying to turn over a new leaf. It is way too soon to try to joke about a catastrophe like that…This one hits close to home.”
