Late American actor John Ritter's co-star from Three's Company, Joyce DeWitt, recently revealed that his oldest son, Jason Ritter, had a cameo in the popular sitcom. While many were surprised to find out about this, DeWitt shared that when Jason was a toddler, he appeared in a shot with her in the opening credits of Three's Company.
As he was only in the shot for a few seconds, it was the show's director, Dave Powers, who put him into the shot. The filming of the credit sequence took place at the Los Angeles Zoo. The sequence was used at the start of each episode during seasons 6 through 8. DeWitt shared this interesting fact about Jason's impromptu cameo on August 10, 2025, during the Southfork Experience: Three's Company Panel. She said:
"Our director, Dave Powers, was just shooting from the cuff when we would go on location to shoot the credits. There was a rough draft, but not really a game plan. And because we were going to be all day on location, people brought their children, their wives, whatever, it was kind of a group event, and Davey was just grabbing anybody and everyone to throw into those credits."
While talking about toddler Jason, who came to the set along with his father, Jason Ritter, wearing a pair of blue overalls, DeWitt said:
"In my credit, where I'm down and this little boy toddles in, that's Jason Ritter, John's first child. The Jason Ritter that you see on TV all the time, that was his film premiere. His little overall butt walking up to me."
John Ritter, who rose to major fame after starring as Jack Tripper in the immensely popular and hit ABC sitcom, Three's Company, alongside Joyce DeWitt and the late Suzanne Sommers, is the father of four children.
The Sling Blade actor, who was the recipient of a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award, shared his first three kids, Jason, Tyler, and Carly, with his first wife, actress Nancy Morgan, with whom he was married from 1977 to 1996. He had his fourth child, a son named Noah, with his second wife, Amy Yesback.
