Disney alum Jennette McCurdy recently sat down for an interview with Alex Cooper for the latter's Call Her Daddy podcast.

During their conversation, McCurdy opened up about a relationship with an older man during her teenage years. Ahead of the release of her new novel titled Half His Age, the Nickelodeon alum recounted the relationship.

The recent podcast has brought back attention to McCurdy's dating life. While there has been plenty of speculation about who the writer has dated, she has kept her romantic life private. However, in her memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, McCurdy revealed that she dated Paul Glaser, the script manager of iCarly in 2010.

She met Paul while working on the sets of the sitcom. McCurdy also opened up about dating him during an interview with Vulture in 2015.

“People online would make very rude comments about him and say, What a creep to have had an eye on her for so long. But they didn’t know the whole story”, McCardy told the publication “That’s an instance when I really resented social media because I thought, These people are making it hard on me.”

During the recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Jennette McCurdy detailed that she met an older man when she was working on the 2007 sitcom, iCarly. The actress and writer revealed that the man was already in a relationship with someone else. She said:

“I was most likely 18, he would show me movies that he thought I would like. Like Dazed and Confused, which I did not like but I pretended to like. He would play me music that I did not like, but I pretended to like. It was just exhausting.”
“I remember he came over drunk one night to my apartment. At this point I’ve moved out of my mom’s, I’m very new - also red flags all over.” Jennette McCurdy shared on the podcast that the relationship and the power dynamics made her feel "powerless." She eventually broke up with the unnamed man in 2013. Concluding her story, she said: "Can you imagine now being with like a [teenager]? Creepy.”

McCurdy revealed that all this happened while the man was in his 30s and already had a girlfriend.

The experience took a toll on her mental health. Jennette McCurdy said that the experience was "exhausting." Eventually, she decided to break up after the demise of her mother, Debra McCurdy, in 2013.
