Guy Moon, the Emmy-nominated soundtrack composer for some of Nickelodeon's most recognizable animated series, died in a traffic accident in Los Angeles. Moon, who passed away at the age of 63, left behind a legacy in animation, cinema, and television that spanned more than 40 years. His family announced his passing through his Facebook account.
Guy has been married to Jenny Moon for more than four decades. In the month of July last year, Guy Moon and Jenny Moon celebrated their 40th anniversary of marriage, where Guy took to Facebook, where he posted a picture of Jenny with a table full of oysters with the caption:
"40 years today with this hottie. “These are a few of my favorite things”"
Family, friends and fans frequently described their marriage as loving and supportive. Jenny and Guy Moon spent a lot of time together, from eating out to music shows.

Guy Moon's family released a statement through his Facebook to announce his death:
"We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon. He was killed on Thursday morning in a traffic collision."
The statement continued:
"We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted."
The family also announced that they would be celebrating his life on Moon's birthday, 7 February 2026, in Los Angeles. At a later time, friends, coworkers, and admirers from various phases of his life will be able to pay their condolences at a second tribute in his hometown of Wisconsin.
Guy Moon's work
Guy Moon was best known for his work on The Fairly OddParents. He composed music for every episode throughout its long run from 2001 to 2017. He was also the composer and theme creator for Danny Phantom, another fan-favorite that cemented his reputation as a musical composer of the early-2000s animation.
His Nickelodeon credits also included shows like Big Time Rush, The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, When Nerds Collide and The Jerkinators!, SpongeBob SquarePants, Johnny Bravo, Johnny Test, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Bunsen Is a Beast, The Addams Family, and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Moon received four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Music and Lyrics from 2002 to 2004 and won an Annie Award in 2010 for The Fairly OddParents. He worked on over 70 projects in television, film, and animation during his career.
Though many associate Moon with animated series, his work extended far beyond Nickelodeon. He contributed to films and tv shows such as The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel, The Green Vail, The Black Knight and Dr. Dolittle 2, and throughout his career was involved in both composing and producing roles.
He also remained active in recent years, composing for new projects and mentoring young musicians entering the industry. His last credited work is for Aram Rappaport's The Artist, which streams on The Network.
Following the news of his death, tributes came pouring in from everywhere. From his colleagues to fans, all paid their respects to the music composer. His longtime collaborator Butch Hartman, who is the creator of The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, referred to him as “my friend, my brother, my family.”
Not much is known about Guy Moon's personal life, as he kept it private, but he will be remembered for being a musical pioneer and a family man.
