Byron Allen, who is married to Jennifer Lucas, had previously sued McDonald's in 2021, alleging discrimination by the fast food chain against Black owned businesses. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in a latest move, McDonald's has settled the $10 billion lawsuit on Friday, after previously having stated that they were ready to go to trial.
According to Variety, Byron Allen, who has been married to Jennifer Lucas since 2007, started his company in 1993, which was then known as CF Entertainment. A statement released by Allen Entertainment and the Weather Group, both companies that are owned by Byron Allen and involved in filing the lawsuit against McDonald's, was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. It read:
"We are pleased to find a resolution that maintains our business relationship. During the course of this litigation, many of our preconceptions have been clarified, and we acknowledge McDonald’s commitment to investing in Black-owned media properties and increasing access to opportunity. Our differences are behind us, and we look forward to working together.”

According to The New York Times, Byron Allen and his wife, Jennifer Lucas, got married in September 2007 at the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles. The pair had previously met in 2001 through their work and were together for six years before tying the knot. Jennifer Lucas previously worked as a supervising producer at Entertainment Studios, which is a part of the Allen Media Group. According to The Sun, she has worked on various TV shows like "Comic Unleashed," "Beautiful Homes & Great Estates," " Boss Level," and "Friend Request." She, along with her husband, Byron Allen, later won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle TV Program for "Car.TV" in 2012.
Jennifer Lucas, who was born on 27 January 1962, to mother Cheri Lucas and Robert Lucas, grew up in Minnesota. She later attended St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Lucas, who has been married to Byron Allen for eighteen years, has three children: Chloe Ava, born in August 2008, Olivia Rose, born in April 2010, and a son, Lucas Byron, born in 2012. In an interview with People Magazine, Jennifer Lucas said in a statement that Byron Allen would be a great father to their children. She said:
"Byron is going to be an amazing dad. He will be phenomenal."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Byron Allen recently moved to sell various local TV stations in Hawaii, Montgomery, and other locations that are owned by his company, Allen Media Group. In a statement obtained by the outlet, he explained the move. He said:
"Six years ago, Allen Media Group began the process of investing over one billion dollars to acquire big four network-affiliated television stations. We have received numerous inquiries and written offers for most of our television stations and now is the time to explore getting a return on this phenomenal investment.We are going to use this opportunity to take a serious look at the offers, and the sale proceeds will be used to significantly reduce our debt.”
The terms of the settlement between Byron Allen and McDonald's have not been released.
