What happened to Fetty Wap’s daughter? Rapper’s child Lauren Maxwell tragically passed away in 2021

Paterson, New Jersey-based rapper and the My Way hitmaker, Fetty Wap, is currently trending online following his prison release after serving over three years, as per Billboard.

Originally known as Willie Junior Maxwell II, the rapper turned singer-songwriter got an early release on January 8 this year after serving three years in prison on federal drug charges.

According to Billboard, Fetty Wap, who was catapulted to significant fame after his song Trap Queen, released in 2014, became a massive hit, was released eleven months earlier than his actual release date in December 2026. The MTV Video Music Award-winning rapper pleaded guilty to federal drug charges in 2022, after he was arrested in Queens, New York, in October 2021. Fetty Wap received a six-year sentence in May 2023. He served his time in a prison in Minnesota's Sandstone.

According to People Magazine, Fetty Wap had a daughter, Lauren Maxwell, with his former partner, Turquoise Miami, who passed away at the age of 4, on June 24, 2021, at her home in Riverdale, Georgia. According to Lauren's death certificate, as cited by TMZ, the cause of her death was "a fatal cardiac arrhythmia due to complications of congenital cardiac anomalies".

As per the outlet, the unfortunate news of Fetty Wap's daughter's death was shared in a post on Instagram. The caption of the post read:

"This is my amazing, beautiful, funny, vibrant, loving, talented, smart and hardheaded princess mermaid Aquarius. If you see this post scrolling by with her comment or just say to yourself 'I love you LAUREN' because they say that souls can feel your love #rip"

A few days later, Fetty, Lauren's father, took to Instagram to honour her daughter and shared a picture of her with a caption that read:

"Hey mini me (My Twin)... ' I love you to the moon and back forever and ever bestfriend'"

Fetty Wap thanked his family and fans for their support after his early release from prison

Following his early release from prison on January 8, 2026, Fetty Wap shared a statement with Billboard, in which he thanked his family, fans, and his friends, who supported him during his tough times. Fetty's statement read:

"I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for the love, prayers, and continued support - it truly means everything to me. Right now, my focus is on giving back through my community initiatives and foundation, supporting at-risk young children by expanding access to education, early tech skills, and vision care for young kids and students so they can show up as their best selves. I’m committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most."
