Political commentator Candace Owens, who has reportedly been subpoenaed in the ongoing legal conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, has been vocal about the string of lawsuits and countersuits between the former co-stars.

Sharing her thoughts on allegations of sexual harassment on the set of the 2024 film, It Ends With Us, made by Lively against Baldoni, Owens, in January 2024, said on her podcast, Candace,

“I have said this since before, long before this ever broke out between her and Justin Baldoni, that we have to compartmentalize. Blake Lively is not a good person. So no matter what happens in this lawsuit, no matter who wins in the end, do not let it distract you from the fact that she has proven herself not to be a kind person, okay. And that's largely due to the part, the fact that she is a modern feminist which means that she grew up wealthy, her life has been perfect and so she has to create struggle where there just isn’t any, okay.”

Back then, Owens targeted Lively and made claims against the Another Simple Favor actress. She added,

“She has a track record of being difficult to work with, well established before Justin Baldoni was ever in the picture…I can also tell you personally. Back when I was an intern at Glamour magazine, working under an editor, she said the most difficult person that she has ever worked with and the rudest person that she had ever worked with was Blake Lively who got the cover of Glamour at some time when I was working at Glamour magazine…you should just know that she is a bit of a brat, okay.”

At the time, Candace Owens also questioned why Blake Lively did not file a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni directly

Blake Lively’s allegations against Justin Baldoni, who also directed and produced It Ends With Us, initially surfaced in 2024 when the actress filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, alleging harassment. The complaint was followed by an article published by the New York Times, which supported Lively’s claims and published communications between Baldoni and his publicist, who allegedly planned a ‘smear campaign’ against the actress.

After Baldoni filed a lawsuit against The New York Times for $250 million, alleging defamation, Lively also filed a lawsuit against her former co-star, accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliation, as per Fox News.

“Right before Christmas on December 20th, Blake Lively filed a complaint against Justin Baldoni and others in California claiming s*xual harassment. She alleged that Justin Baldoni and producer Jamie Heath had really poor behavior on set and that they organized that smear campaign against her during the promotion of the film and that that campaign caused her grief, fear, trauma and extreme anxiety, that's all per the filing.”

Continuing with her claims, Owens said at the time,

“Now I want to make something very clear to you. She filed a complaint at first, not a lawsuit, okay. So on December 20th, she had filed a complaint with the Californian Civil Rights Department…but what's interesting is despite filing this complaint and despite this complaint, supposed to be by California law, was supposed to be completely private…and lo and behold on the 21st, the day after somehow the New York Times gets a hold of it, okay.”

Providing her own opinion on who might end up winning the legal battle, Owens added,

“My money is on Blake Lively being wrong. I think she is 100% wrong.”

On July 1, it was reported that Candace Owens has been subpoenaed

TMZ reported that, according to a source, Candace Owens, alongside other commentators such as Perez Hilton and Andy Signore, were reportedly subpoenaed in connection with the ongoing conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. As per TMZ, the source alleged that Owens and the others are ordered by the court to hand over communications with Justin Baldoni or his production company, Wayfarer, due to ‘possible collusion’ with Baldoni through their anti-Lively content.

Owens swiftly responded to the report and denied being subpoenaed. As per TMZ, Owens said,

“Given the fact that I have not received any subpoena yet, I appreciate Blake’s team leaking this to TMZ to alert me to it. And of course, I have not the slightest idea what I am being subpoenaed for as I knew none of these parties when their respective lawsuits were filed. But stay tuned, and I’ll let audiences know on my podcast!”

Candace Owens also “subpoenaed” herself on her channel

Candace Owens then went on to respond to the rumors on her YouTube channel. She said,

“So, first and foremost, right off the bat, you should know what they're saying is stupid. She thinks that I was part of some inside baseball smear campaign against her. I mean, this is wacky. This is totally wacky. She, this is like unhinged, okay.”

Owens also said that she would “live-subpoena” herself. Taking out her phone, Owens searched for the term “Blake Lively” on her phone, and showed her audience that her only communications about the actress were when she was appreciating her ring a few years ago, and once while discussing content.

Addressing Lively, Owens said,

“You have not been a common discussion between 2019 [and] 2024, unfortunately.”

Candace Owens also emphasized that as a commentator, she is entitled to cover the dispute between Lively and Baldoni.
