Plies, aka Algernod Lanier Washington, has filed a lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, GloRilla, and Soulja Boy for copyright infringement. Not many might be aware that the rapper was a nurse before he chose to embark on his musical journey.

According to TMZ, Plies alleged that the rappers have “borrowed” his 2008 track, Me & My Goons, without seeking his permission. He accused Soulja Boy of using the similar “infrared countdown beats” in his 2010 hit, Pretty Boy Swag.

The usage of similar beats was again noticed in GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s Wanna Be, which became a major summer hit. The song was released on April 5, 2024.

The song centers around moving away from toxic men and fake friends. Plies sued Cardi B as she joined Megan and Glo in the remix of the popular track released on May 31, 2024.

The report also suggested that Meg's Hot Girl Productions, Soulja's Collipark Productions, Universal Music Group, Collective Music Group, and Interscope were also named as defendants in the suit.

Collective Music Group and Interscope Records released Wanna Be. Ace Charisma, Payday, MKMentality, and Yo Gotti produced it. It was a record from Glo’s album, Ehhthang Ehhthang, in comparison to the other songs like All Dere with Moneybagg Yo and Yeah Glo.

In an April 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, GloRilla said,

“It was most definitely a confidence booster for myself and me just talking to myself and boosting myself up.”

She further added:

“When you have such a good beat, the song just gonna come along. I feel like if you got a good beat, you could damn near say anything on the song gonna be good. But if you got a good beat and lyrics good too? That’s what makes the hit what it is.”

GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion performed the song during the 2024 BET Awards.

His second album, Definition of Real (2008), was also a major hit. It launched another Bust It Baby (Part 2), which peaked at number 2 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart.

Plies opines on US elections 2024 results

Recently, Plies took to Instagram to share his views on Donald Trump winning the US Presidential elections in 2024. He shared a clip asking his followers not to be disappointed because some results didn't go as predicted.

"Just because the person that you felt should have won didn’t make it across the finish line, don’t for a second allow yourself to question your beliefs and what it is that you stand for.” Plies said in the video clip.
“Just because some results didn’t go how you foreseen them to go, it doesn’t mean you wrong about anything.” He continued.
"One thing this election did teach me is something that he knew and something that I didn’t know. That character no longer matters. That all the dark and divisiveness and all the things he said, he knew people wanted that, I just didn’t think that they did.” The rapper concluded.

Soon, his post was flooded with heartfelt comments from the fans who appreciated him for taking a stand.
