Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is now starting a new chapter in her life as she recently completed her parole and took to Instagram to reflect on the moment. According to People Magazine, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, who was released from prison two years ago in 2023, shared a post on Instagram where she talked about moving forward in her life. She said:

"This next chapter is one of healing"

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, were sentenced to prison following the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. She was supposed to serve a ten-year sentence, out of which she served eight years before being released on December 28, 2023.

More about Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, as she talks about the new beginning in her life

In her Instagram post, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard talked about taking accountability for her role in her mother's death. She wrote:

"I've taken accountability and now, I take back my life. When I accepted my sentence, I accepted the weight of my choices. I served my time. That was my accountability and I've carried it for years. I don't owe the past anything more."

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard was a victim of Munchausen by Proxy, a form of abuse inflicted by her mother, who forced her to take medications for ailments she never had. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Munchausen by Proxy is a mental health condition, also known as Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another, where the caregiver fabricates or induces illness in someone under their care. This can lead to dangerous medical situations, as the person being treated is not actually ill. Blanchard said:

"This is freedom. And I'm moving forward with clarity, peace, and self-forgiveness. The Justice system has decided. The case is closed. This is justice for Dee Dee, as well as myself, who the system failed all my life. Justice was served and so was my time."

In her statement, which she released through a video message on Instagram, she also addressed Nicholas Godejohn's involvement in the crime and said:

"Yes, he is a deeply disturbed man. But he also knew the difference between right and wrong. Regardless of my role of unintentional manipulation ... Nicholas made the decision to move forward with that night. That was a choice, and he is not exempt from the consequences of that choice."

According to People Magazine, Nicholas Godejohn met Gypsy-Rose Blanchard through Facebook and later traveled to Missouri to meet her. He entered her house at night after being given the signal by Gypsy-Rose and stabbed Dee Dee Blanchard while she was asleep. Dee Dee’s body was discovered five days later by the authorities. Both Gypsy-Rose and Godejohn had already fled the scene but were apprehended at his family home in Wisconsin.

In her post, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard further wrote about Nicholas Godejohn, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, adding that his condition does not exempt him from his wrongdoings. She said:

"His diagnosis of Autism/Asperger's does not excuse what he did. Mental health is complex, but accountability matters and no one is above the law. His fate was decided by a panel of judges, prosecutors, lawyers and 12 jury members who reviewed the same evidence circulating online. His efforts of appeals have all been unsuccessful, each court agreeing with the original conviction. I will not carry his actions on my shoulders any longer. I've taken responsibility for mine. He presents himself as a dominant figure, seeking control and obedience, manipulating these women under the guise of love and loyalty"

Earlier this year, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, who welcomed her first child, a daughter named Aurora Raina Urker, with her boyfriend Ken Urker, included some never-before-seen screenshots of her conversations with Nicholas Godejohn in her video message.
