The latest trailer for Disney's Tron: Ares teases one wild collision between the digital and real worlds. Jared Leto steps in as Ares, a sleek, self-aware Program who doesn’t just exist in code, he breaks out of it. Think: one part AI, one part existential crisis, all wrapped up in a human form. He's not just your average rogue algorithm either, Ares crossing over into our world makes him a real, physical threat, not just something you can unplug. And yeah, humanity's not exactly ready for that.
The trailer is a visual treat. We have Light Cycles tearing through reak streets, Recogniser casting shadows over skyscrapers, and an anticipated long wait of Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn who starred in the original 1982 classic and it's 2010 sequel.
The trailer drops major reveals, diving deeper than the April tease. Jared Leto’s Ares is no ordinary Program, he’s a super-soldier, engineered by Evan Peters’ Julian Dillinger to be impossibly fast, smart, and nearly indestructible. But there’s a twist: Dillinger has discovered how to bring Programs into the real world, something only done once before when Quorra crossed over in Tron: Legacy.
While it does seem like Dillinger is playing the usual corporate game, things spiral fast when his own creations slip out of his control. Ares ends up escaping as he is haunted by questions about identity and purpose, and eventually finds himself aligning with the Users. With this mix of old-school legacy and bold, new energy, Tron: Ares is shaping up to be a visually stunning, emotionally charged leap forward for the franchise.
More details about Tron: Ares

Tron: Ares is finally bringing the Grid back to life, and it’s looking sleeker and bolder than ever. This new chapter in the Tron saga centers on Ares, a sharp and self-aware Program played by Jared Leto, who’s taken out of the digital world and dropped straight into reality by Evan Peters’ character, Julian Dillinger. But Ares isn’t your average obedient AI, he starts asking the big questions and ends up flipping the script in true robotic fashion.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
“TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings."
The cast for the film includes Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson, Cameron Monaghan, and Jodie Turner-Smith who join the digital chaos, adding brains, beauty, and serious firepower. Even Jeff Bridges is back, slipping into his iconic role as Kevin Flynn.
The film is being helmed by Joachim Rønning, who has previously worked on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Tron: Ares is the third installment in the franchise and takes a little detour from studio walls as it is shot across multiple real life locations in Vancouver and Los Angeles, giving it's visuals a raw, realistic edge.
Fans are currently anticipating the film's release that comes out on October 10, 2025.
