James Gunn's Superman is all set to hit screens in less than two months, and the team has been working to get fans all excited about the film. Releasing in theatres this July, Superman will kick off Gunn's reign at the DCEU and will bring in David Corenswet as the newest member of the Kryptonian club.

With the release date coming close, To celebrate World Superman Day on April 18, the same day the very first Superman comic was released, the filmmakers shared a touching behind-the-scenes video, offering fans a closer look at some moments from the set on set as the team talked about Gunn's vision for the movie. It perfectly encapsulates everything that went into the making of the film and how Corenswet's Superman is all about bringing all the charm of the superhero back on screen.

The video begins with James Gunn as he talks about Superman and says,

"Being a child I loved the purity of Superman it was a time when I was starting to understand what movies were."

Peter Safran, the film's producer and also DCEU's co-CEO, follows up by revealing how Gunn went about the project:

James didn't know that Superman was in his future he wasn't sure that that was the one he should be doing and then he called me one day and he said "I have a way in i know what I want to talk about."

Gunn continues, describing the superhero as beautiful and noble:

Superman is a character who's good, who is filled with hope. He saves people because it's the right thing to do. We could use a little bit more of that.

Corenswet, who's playing the titular character, adds,

It's the beginning of a whole new adventure and a whole new universe

Rachel Brosnahan, who stars as Lois Lane, continues:

We're already deep in the DC universe and in James Gunn we trust and I think we can do it.

Superman will be James Gunn's first project with the DCEU, and he's reimagining the hero in a fresh light. Unlike the films that came before it, instead of exploring the character's origins, Superman (2025) is said to focus on Clark Kent's daily life and how he goes about his dual identity. A key character in the film will be Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Superman's love interest, Lois Lane.

The film is initiating DCEU's subtle reset and will kick-start its new era, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. It will pave the way for future projects like Supergirl and Clayface.

Superman will release in theaters on 11 July 2025.
