US Attorney General Pam Bondi had a playful response to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's latest Saturday Night Live outing. The comedienne duo played AG Bondi and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, respectively, in their opening monologue that spoofed Bondi's October 7 Congressional hearing.
Taking the playful jab in her stride, the chief law officer even invited Noem to have a go at it, on X,
"@Sec_Noem, should we recreate this picture in Chicago? Loving Amy Poehler!"
The sketch directed its aim at Pam Bondi and her congressional hearing two weeks ago, where she reportedly dodged the many questions posed in front of her.
Interestingly, in a statement to Fox News Digital, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin was quick to paint the episode with a partisan hue, saying,
“SNL is absolutely right—the Democrats’ shutdown does need to end!”
Amy Poehler, who had departed from the sketch comedy show in 2008 for Parks and Recreation, revisited the show on its 50th anniversary - SNL's first episode premiered on October 11, 1975.
The episode aired on October 11,
Many Colors of the Pam Bondi - Kristi Noem Sketch
While the sketch parodied the popular Bondi vs The Senate hearing, it took many jabs at Bondi's demeanor and presented many easy-to-spot 'easter eggs'. When addressing President Trump's decision to install the National Guard in American cities, Amy (as Pam Bondi) blurted,
"Before I don’t answer, I’d like to insult you personally..."
Poehler's partner-in-crime, Tina Fey, channeled Kristi Noem, complete with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hat and toting an assault rifle. She jokingly made a case for joining the ICE and said,
"Do you need a job now? Do you take supplements that you bought at a gas station?"
She continued her hilarious take,
"Then buckle up and slap on some Oakleys, big boy: Welcome to ICE!"
Interestingly, the long-running sketch comedy show has had a history of run-ins with President Trump. Earlier this month, at the show's 51st season premiere, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson had said (sic),
"I have more entertaining things to do — like watch paint dry..."
Poehler's Return
Last weekend's appearance marked Poehler's third time hosting after her departure in 2008. In her opening monologue, she recalled her passion for writing for SNL and minced no words in attacking the trend of using AI instead of 'real' actors.
