During the April 1, 2025, episode of the Catching Up With the Camdens podcast, Jessica Biel was talking to her co-stars from the show, Mackenzie Rosman (Ruthie), Beverley Mitchell (Lucy), and David Gallagher (Simon), who also played her siblings in 7th Heaven. While talking about different funny and embarrassing moments, Biel shared that:

"I remember thinking she was a cool character because she was a basketball player and I was an athlete. I was like, ‘Oh, I can connect this'... And I also remember that in my audition I had to well the character Mary the character was spinning a basketball on her finger, so I did that at the audition without a basketball...Like, I was spinning it, like an invisible ball. I kind of feel embarrassed about that, but maybe it was effective."

Jessica Biel thinks that the show removed a "kiss" scene between Mary Camden and her brother

In March 30, 2025, episode of the podcast Catching Up with the Camdens, Jessica Biel recalled that her character almost kissed her on-screen brother in the series 7th Heaven. The awkward scene reportedly occurred in the 1996 episode, Anything You Want.

According to US Weekly, there is an uncomfortable scene where Mary Camden (Played by Jessica Biel) asks her brother, Matt Camden (played by Barry Watson), to teach her how to kiss. The request made Matt reportedly uncomfortable; fortunately, their father, Reverend Eric Camden, interrupts them before the kiss.

Though the series does not show the kiss, Biel shared in the podcast that she thinks they did shoot more than what was shown.

"I do think we shot it. I think, at the time, everyone was [thinking], ‘This isn’t really gonna work!’...Everybody seemed to think this was not the best move for these siblings on this show."

The publication further states that when Mitchell talked about how they were also confused about whether the kiss was shot or not, Jessica Biel shared that she doesn't know "if it was real or not," while admitting that "14-year-old" Biel was probably just excited about the idea of shooting a kissing scene.

The cast of 7th Heaven has previously talked about this alleged "kiss scene". On March 17, 2024, at a ‘90s Con panel in Hartford, Watson shared that the executive producer, Aaron Spelling, was the one who "insisted on having" the almost-kiss scene.
