“I don’t think either of us failed” - Meagan Good speaks out on divorce with ex-husband DeVon Franklin

Meagan Good revealed in The Jason Lee Show that it was her ex-husband, DeVon Franklin, who took the initiative to end their marriage. She further talked about how the split was no one's fault.

Meagan Good, an American actress known for her roles in movies like Eve's Bayou, Harlem, etc. She was married to filmmaker and author DeVon Franklin for about a decade. DeVon Franklin is known for works like Miracles from Heaven, Heaven Is for Real. The former couple co-wrote the book, The Wait (2015).

According to People Magazine, Meagan Good, 43, shared about her divorce from DeVon Franklin, 47, in the April 14 episode of the Podcast The Jason Lee Show. Though she did not delve deep into the topic, she shared with host Lee that,

What I can say is, it’s not that anybody did anything wrong. I can’t say that he f—ed that up and I can’t say that I f—ed that up.

She further continued that,

I don’t think either of us failed. If we failed, we failed upwards(...)I don’t think that any time was wasted. I think that everything in life, every single season, you do learn so much, and you do grow so much, and you give so much, and you do get so much.

DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good got married in 2012, and their divorce was finalised in 2022. Meagan is now married to Jonathan Majors. DeVon got engaged to his girlfriend, Maria Castillo, in February 2025.

In the podcast, Good also talked about her marriage to actor Jonathan Majors. According to People Magazine, Majors and Good started dating each other in May 2023. And after more than a year of dating, the two got engaged in November 2024. The publication further confirms that the couple got married in March 2025.

According to multiple reports, in April 2024, Jonathan Majors (who was arrested on assault charges in March 2023) was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment concerning an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, and was sentenced to a year of probation. He was also ordered to attend a 52-week domestic violence intervention programme.

According to People Magazine, in the podcast, Meagan Good shared with host Lee that

It’s not about throwing yourself into the fire. If you are walking away with someone and you know the quality of the human being that they are, and if they have to walk through fire, are you going to walk beside them? Or are you going to step aside because it will hurt your career?

Previously, as per a People Magazine exclusive published on April 11, Good reportedly said that she knows that it's him and her "against the world". Majors and Good's marriage was met with mixed reactions due to his assault conviction.

According to reports, Jonathan Majors, during his appearance on The Breakfast Club on March 21, talked about how Good "lost endorsements" because of their relationship.
