Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, the reality TV couple, revealed that their time behind bars was very different. The pair openly discussed their experiences in jail on their podcast Chrisley Confession on 16 July 2025. Todd Chrisley revealed to her:

“I had a chef that made my food.”

In 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley were found guilty on several charges of tax evasion and fraud. The couple was convicted of hiding their income from the IRS and obtaining over $30 million in loans using fictitious documents. In January 2023, they started to serve with Julie being detained in the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, and Todd being housed at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida.

On May 27, 2025, President Donald Trump fully pardoned both after they had served more than two years in prison. The next day, they were freed, and after getting a personal call from Trump, their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, broke the news on Instagram with tears in her eyes. She said:

"We are freaking out over here... I still don’t believe it’s real.”

Todd Chrisley's "Fast food feast" behind bars

Todd Chrisley reflected back during his time in jail and revealed that he had access to luxury fast food. Speaking to his wife, he said:

“I had Chick-fil-A"

To which Julie interrupted and called him out in shock.

Todd Chrisley added:

“You ask me what did I eat, and I'm not gonna come on here and lie. I had Chick-fil-A. I had Burger King. I had pizza. I had Culver's, which — let me just go ahead and tell you, this is not an ad — but Culver's is my jam now. I had Olive Garden once, but I didn't like it,”

Meanwhile, Julie had to suffer and live in prison as it was.

“What I ate in prison, which was none of that, none. I had not one morsel of outside food for 28 months."

Upon hearing this, Todd asked:

"Did you not make friends with any of the staff?”

To which she replied that she didn't make any friends.

To which Todd revealed that he would do some filming of the food he had in prison for his fans to view:

“But I'm actually gonna do some filming at home, of some things that I cooked while I was in prison because I think that's kinda cool. Well, I would have to get my chef because I had a chef that made my food.”

She replied in an upset manner, saying she didn't.

And when all of this didn't work out, Todd Chrisley used an iron, pepperoni, and pizza sauce from Walmart to make quesadillas.

“I ate quesadillas all the time. That and tuna.”

Julie went on to say that she consumed a lot of tuna while Todd shared that he loves it a lot.

Julie added:

“We had quesadillas. We had nachos. I made a pickle wrap, which is really good."

To which Todd replied with disgust saying:

“I ain't eating all that.”

and Julie replied:

“You don't know, because you never had it.”

Todd said:

“I had Culver's. Why would I eat a pickle wrap?”

In the letter that Julie wrote to Savannah, she said that in order to cook, she and other prisoners had to use very little. They utilized radiators to make meals in the winter and a tiny Rubbermaid cooler to use hot water in the summer. Knives, refrigerators, and other common kitchenware were absent. She wrote:

“It doesn’t sound like much but cooking anything in here is a chore.”

Todd and his family have stated that he was mistreated while inside, despite the fact that his meals appear to be lavish.

In an interview with Daily Mail in September 2023, Savannah said that her father was kept in "inhumane conditions" and was ill-treated at the prison by the "corrupt prison guards."

Through his lawyer, Todd Chrisley claimed that he and the other inmates were fed expired food.
