21-year-old actress Sadie Sink, in a recent cover story for Teen Vogue published on April 3, echoed Stranger Things costar Millie Bobby Brown about being a child actor.

"I had a little bit of different experience, but I can relate to everything she said. I mean, as women and just as human beings, we naturally grow up and find ourselves. Doing that in the public eye, under scrutiny, definitely is this added pressure that men do not receive."

Sadie Sink's comments come after Brown, in an Instagram post in March 2025, clapped back at critics that commented against her new blonde look.

In her post, Brown noted,

"I started in this industry when I was 10 years old. I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can't seem to grow up with me."

Brown mentioned that people expect her to stay "frozen in time" and look the same way she looked in Season 1 of Stranger Things when she was 12. She also refused to "apologize for growing up" and making herself "smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can't seem to handle seeing a girl become a woman."

While noting Millie's comments, Sadie said,

"Especially, like, Millie was saying, someone who's beeing known as a child on TV and then is coming into adulthood. It's not necessarily the kindest place to do that in this industry, and to do it so publicly."

Elsewhere in the interview, Sadie also recalled her experience of growing up as a woman.

"There was definitely a shift in mentality when you start being perceived as a woman. There's just this whole other part of feminism and womanhood that becomes clearer the older you get. You have to start looking out for yourself and defending yourself..."

Sadie Sink's child acting career explored

Similar to Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink's acting career also began at a young age. Before starring in Stranger Things, Sink landed a role in the Broadway production of Annie at 12. Sink's father is a rugby coach and his mother a math teacher. As her career took off, the family moved to New York to show support to the young actor.

After Annie, Sink played Queen Elizabeth II in the 2015 play The Audience. She also appeared in The Glass Castle, Chuck, The Americans, and Blue Bloods.

Sadie Sink appeared in Stranger Things in the second season in a supporting role as Max Mayfield in 2017. The actress is now 22, and in the recent Teen Vogue cover, she mentioned that the last installment of Stranger Things, which is scheduled to release in October and November 2025, is going to really "push the limits."
