Blac Chyna and Derrick Milano have called off their engagement.
Born Angela White, Blac Chyna shares a daughter, Dream, with Rob Kardashian, and a son, King Cairo, with Tyga. She took to social media recently to post a statement that she and the Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Milano have parted ways. The 36-year-old penned:
"After much prayer and reflection, Derrick and I have decided to call off the engagement. We love each other deeply and are good friends, but we both believe that God's guidance has shown us that this is the right path for both of us, as we each continue our journeys. Maybe find peace and fulfillment in His divine will, trusting that His plan is greater than our own."
The pair dated for over a year, starting in May 2023, before Milano popped the big question at Howard University's homecoming celebration on October 18 the same year. In videos that went viral online at the time, Derrick could be seen getting down on one knee in front of a large crowd of students cheering him on, before he asked Blac Chyna:
"Will you marry me?"
She looked taken aback, though she quickly gave him a peck on the lips and a hug before he slid the ring onto her finger. He then asked her again,
"Angela, will you marry me?" before declaring, "She said 'Yes!'"
Derrick Milano and Blac Chyna's relationship explored
Derrick Milano also took to his Instagram account at the time to recount the moment he asked her the question, with two clips of the proposal set to the song Let Me Love You. In one clip, he could be seen performing it 13 years ago, and in the other, he and Blac Chyna are seen sharing a moment as the song blares in the background. Per People magazine, he wrote as caption:
“She said YES. 🫶🏾💍. Angela Renee White, I can go on and on about how much you mean the world to me & never get tired of it,” he wrote. “I’ve found so much peace since we’ve met. & GOD put us in each other’s lives for a reason & for a purpose. Every day with you feels everlasting & it is such a blessing to call you my fiancée. I love you so much!” “Thank you for letting me love you. & thank you for loving me equally,” he continued. “This is what it’s all about 💍.”
Blac Chyna and Derrick Milano have collaborated on tracks in the past, including Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce's Savage Remix, People has reported. They went official with their relationship back in September 2023, when they told the outlet in a statement:
“You won’t be able to say power couple without mentioning Angela White & Derrick Gray!”
In May last year, Blac Chyna took to Instagram to commemorate their first anniversary with a montage of the pair and their time together:
"Happy 1 year anniversary @derrickmilano," she captioned the post. "Reflecting on a year of pure magic and joy with you, my dearest Derrick. Your love, support, and friendship have filled my life with light and warmth." She thanked him for "showing me the true meaning of love." "Here's to countless more years of love and togetherness," she added. "I cherish you always."
Derrick echoed the sentiments in a post on his own Instagram account, writing,
"I found balance, happiness & GOD when I met you & I can't thank you enough for helping me grow as not only your Man, but a MAN who genuinely loves his woman." "From our very first date to even breakfast this morning, it still feels surreal that I found my person & GOD placed us with one another," he continued. "One year down and an infinity to go."
As of this writing, it remains unclear why Blac Chyna and Derrick Milano parted ways.
