English singer and songwriter, Robbie Williams, opened up about his struggles with mental health and Scurvy diagnosis in an exclusive interview with the Mirror on April 7, 2025. He shared how he dealt with depression and other issues for the first time.

He said the year began with a rough patch on his mental health, where he felt sadness, anxiety, and low moods. As per the news outlet, Williams was first diagnosed with depression during his twenties. Besides, he also faced struggles with other issues like anxiety. He said:

“It’s been about ten years...I thought I was at the other end of the arc. I thought this was the end of my story, and that I would just go walking into this marvelous wonderland. So for it to return was just confusing.”

Robbie Williams shared that he had stopped eating properly and became so low on vitamin C that he developed scurvy, a condition rarely seen today. He also spoke about struggling with body dysmorphia, explaining that when people expressed concern about how thin he looked, he took it as a sign of success.

His wife Ayda Field is also dealing with emotional challenges, and Robbie Williams reflected on how difficult it was to support each other through mental health struggles while still trying to show love and patience. He said:

“The most important thing is for yourself to be okay….. and not causing chaos in mine or anybody else’s life, like I used to back in the 90s and early noughties.”

Robbie Williams on becoming the best entertainer and his life with four kids

Speaking of the Oasis tour which coincides with his upcoming tour, Robbie Williams praised Liam Gallagher’s voice as unique and symbolic of an entire generation. He said the upcoming reunion shows would likely feel like a powerful dose of nostalgia and might even help mend past tensions among the band members.

Reflecting on the early years of their music, Robbie Williams was impressed by the sheer number of hit songs they created in such a short time, calling the songwriting during that period especially impressive. However, he added:

“I’ve set myself out with this giant task in my own mind of being the best entertainer on the planet. And I know that sounds egoic and narcissistic, but I’m sure that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi didn’t want to be the sixth best football player in the world if they were given the opportunity.”

In January 2025, Williams talked exclusively with People Magazine about his fatherhood journey. When asked how he juggled energetic performances with a quieter family life, Robbie Williams said he did his best to manage it all. In September 2024, he shared a photo of his four kids on Instagram, writing:

"After a tough week, I’m instantly reminded of the joy and love that is right in front of me. Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support this week…it has really meant the world to me."

With four kids, he said it can get noisy and busy at home. Despite that, he feels grateful and once wrote about wanting to feel real love at home, and now he feels like he has that, describing it as something he had hoped for and now truly appreciates.
