CinemaCon 2025 reveals exclusive Superman footage

At the 2025 CinemaCon, the makers of Superman revealed exclusive footage from the film. The footage was shared by the film's director-writer, James Gunn; co-producer, Peter Safran; and the cast members. It starts off like the trailer as we see the titular hero crashing in the Arctic region. After the whistles are done by him, Krypto shows up to save him.

It then jumps on the superhero, who asks to take him home. We then see Superman getting dragged by Krypto in a humorous way, and he stops in front of a structure that has the logo of the superhero. It is the fortress of solitude where Automatons takes him and puts him in the chamber where he is healed by the sun. The video then showcases Superman leaving the fortress with his pet Krypto. The latter can be seen trying to chew his shoes.

At the event, James Gunn said,

“Back in 2018 I was first offered Superman and I was like ‘Oh my god, that seems so cool … it seems hard. And they said we also wanted you to do the Suicide Squad, and I took the easy way. It was an R-rated movie about a bunch of ragtag heroes. But it stuck with me and it was a constant thought experiment in my mind."

He further explained,

"How can you take a character like that, perceived as old fashioned by many, so many permutations throughout the years … how can you do it for a modern audience? And one day it suddenly hit me in a burst, and I wanted to do a story that was utterly human, utterly fantastic.”

The film will be released on July 11, 2025. It stars David Corenswet in the lead role.
