Blake Shelton has broken his silence on rumors that he and Gwen Stefani are headed for a divorce.
The singer, who met his wife during their time as coaches on The Voice in 2014, co-hosted Country Countdown USA on January 10. At the time, he responded to rumors that he was divorcing the “Hollaback Girl” singer, 56. The pair have been married since 2021.
“I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up,’ ” Shelton said. “ ‘They’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce.’ And then, a week later, a picture comes out of us walking out of the grocery store … ‘Oh, they’re back together again!’ ”
He continued,
“And another week goes by and we’re not seen at the grocery store … ‘They’re divorcing,’ ” he continued. “I see pictures of Gwen and I on social media that I really go, ‘That looks so real.’ But I know I don’t even own that shirt or, ‘Whose car is that?’ ”
During his time as co-host, Blake Shelton said that he doesn't
“believe anything anymore that I see on the internet."
Sources dispel rumors that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's marriage is on the rocks: Read more
Just last year, Page Six reported that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were at the centre of rumors that they were divorcing when they debuted their breakup duet “Hangin’ On” in March. However, the former later told Access Hollywood that the track was not a “reflection” of his marriage.
Speculations reportedly intensified when the pair were not spotted attending the CMA Awards in November, despite Blake Shelton's hit track “Pour Me a Drink” being nominated for Musical Event of the Year. The pair have reportedly not been seen on the red carpet together since The Grand Ole Opry's OPRY 100 celebration.
Blake Shelton was previously married to Kaynette Gern from 2003 to 2006. He was also married to Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015. As for Stefani, she was hitched to Gavin Rossdale from 2002 to 2016, and they share three sons: Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 11.
Back in December, Us Weekly reported that the pair were “as strong as ever” in their family values and faith.
“[Their relationship is] rooted in the things that matter to them both. They are very devoted to each other,” a source told Us. “From the beginning of their relationship, they dealt with the obstacle of their careers taking them in different directions and having to spend time apart. But it’s a part of their lifestyle now. They make it work.”
The insider also said that the two maintained a strong “home base” in Oklahoma:
“They spend quite a bit of time in California and then Las Vegas [too],” a source noted. “Traveling back and forth is just part of the job at this point, and they’ve both been quite used to it for many years.” They added, “When either of them is headlining in Vegas, the other is there. They both work so much, but even if they get there for a day to spend time together, that’s what they do.”
The outlet also reported at the time that “time together, and with their kids” was a main “priority” for both singers, regardless of their hectic schedules.
“Blake will do some shows in Vegas in the new year and Gwen will be there with him, and then when she does her residency in the spring he will do the same,” the insider confirmed.
