There are a couple of films roaring at the top of the box office currently: Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Both films have added strength to the film industry this weekend and given us the best Memorial Day to date, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Previously, it was the Memorial Day of 2013 that nabbed $306 million in sales, considering the overall revenue. On the day, Fast & Furious 6 earned $19.6 million at the domestic box office, followed by films like Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hangover Part III, Iron Man 3, and more.
For Memorial Day 2025, Lilo & Stitch grabbed $36.5 million domestically, while Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning earned $15 million. This was followed by Final Destination: Bloodlines ($4.7 million), Thunderbolts ($2.5 million), and Sinners ($2.3 million). Jon Avnet's The Last Rodeo and Andrew DeYoung's Friendship crossed the million-dollar mark, too.

It is clear from the list that Lilo & Stitch has surpassed these blockbusters, especially Top Gun: Maverick, which is more associated with Memorial Day, which earned $33.8 million.

After Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, we are now looking forward to From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, which is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025. How to Train Your Dragon and 28 Years Later are coming in the same month, too.
The following month will see Jurassic World Rebirth, bringing new horrors to the acclaimed franchise. We will see DC vs. Marvel again in the same month as James Gunn's Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps are releasing then.
