“I never thought I’d be attacked by a shark”: Former NBA player Danilo Gallinari’s pregnant wife shares terrifying beach incident

Eleonora Boi, wife of former NBA player Danilo Gallinari, survived a shark attack, and she shared details about the harrowing experience on Instagram. Boi, pregnant with her third child, shared a picture taken on her hospital bed on Instagram on August 1, 2025.

In her caption, the sports journalist revealed that she was attacked by a shark in a crowded beach in Puerto Rico, adding that she and her unborn baby were fine:

“I never thought I'd be attacked by a shark, especially near the shore on a crowded beach. Fortunately, my baby and I are fine.”

She added:

"It was the worst day of my life, maybe my grandmother Nella was right when she said 'on the seas you traitors'."

Boi stated that she was rescued in time and had to undergo surgery on her leg:

“I was rushed to the rescue and the surgery to fix my poor bruised leg went well. Now I just have to recover from the great scare and try to forgive the great friend who betrayed me.”

Boyle then humorously threatened the shark that had bitten her with a legal case.

In her August 1, 2025, post on Instagram, Danilo Gallinari's wife thanked her fans and well-wishers for their messages and prayers. She also commended her husband for taking care of her:

"Thank you all for the great love and thank you for worrying about us with a message or a prayer. I thank my husband, who, despite being married to Fantozzi-Boi, gave me all his love and courage."

The Department of Natural and Environmental Resources announced the incident, although the organization didn’t disclose the victim’s identity. Captain Rubén Moyeno Carolina, the Municipal Police Commissioner of Carolina, shared more details about the attack and revealed that the victim was Danilo Gallinari’s wife, per reports from local news outlet El Nuevo Dia.

The police official also confirmed that the victim had suffered an open wound on her thigh from the incident, but was in a stable condition. Reports state that Boyle was treated at a Medical Center in Rio Piedras, and authorities are actively investigating the incident.

Boi and Danilo Gallinari began dating in 2017 and tied the knot in 2022. They have two children together and are expecting a third.
