In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Jayme Lawson revealed that the cast of Sinners has been extremely excited since the film received five nominations at the 68th annual Grammy Awards.

The actress, who attended the premiere of The Running Man on November 9, told the outlet:

“Oh, we talk constantly. The group chats are on fire. It was a lot of [screaming], you know, back and forth with each other [after the Grammy nominations were announced]. I love my [Sinners] family, and it's exciting that I get to see them and hang out with them.”

Besides Jayme Lawson, the cast of Ryan Coogler's film features Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, and Jack O'Connell. Sinners is a horror film set in the 1932 Mississippi Delta, where twin brothers return home after working for the Chicago Outfit to open a juke joint, only to be interrupted by evil.

What is the role of Jayme Lawson in “Sinners?”

Jayme Lawson portrays the role of Pearline, a married singer. She is the love interest of the protagonist and aspiring blues musician Sammie, played by Miles Caton. Pearline appears during the juke joint scenes, where her allure draws Sammie despite her marital status.

Lawson also performed the song Pale, Pale Moon on the film’s soundtrack. In a recent Taji Mag interview titled “Sinners’ Circle: How the Cast of Sinners Channeled Music, Myth, and Meaning,” Jayme Lawson opened up on how immersing herself in the musical landscape of Sinners, helped her to transform as an artist. She said:

“It helped me discover where my voice sits. I grew up on gospel, but blues gave me a new connection. I was like, ‘Oh, this sits well.’ It felt like a bridge.”

Sinners received three nominations in this category. It includes I Lied to You by Ludwig Göransson and Raphael Saadiq, performed by Miles Caton. The second track, which has been nominated, is Pale, Pale Moon by Ludwig Göransson & Brittany Howard, performed by Jayme Lawson.

The third track is Sinners, written by Leonard Denisenko, Rodarius “Rod Wave” Green, Travis Harrington, Tarkan Kozluklu, Kyris Mingo & Darius Povilinus. It has been performed by Rod Wave.

Jayme Lawson was born in September 1997 in Washington, District of Columbia. She is famously known for her role as Mayor Bella Reál in The Batman and in the HBO series The Penguin. She recently portrayed the role of Sheila Richards in The Running Man, the wife of the protagonist Ben Richards, played by Glen Powell.
