Actress Sarah Hyland, known for her work in Modern Family and Love Island, among others, celebrated her third marriage anniversary with husband and TV personality Wells Adams. On August 20, she shared a carousel on her Instagram, comprising photos from her wedding. She wrote:
“3rd anniversary in a row not being spent together, but jokes on you @wellsadams , you’re stuck with me. For life. Even when I involuntarily walk like this at weddings… Like… you have to pay lawyers to leave me Happy anniversary loml. I’m so lucky to call you my husband and I love you to Pluto & Back Xx.”

The couple was together for almost five years before tying the knot in 2022. They dated for two years before their engagement in 2019. Their relationship blossomed in 2016 when Sarah Hyland shared several posts on Adams, writing that he was her crush. This happened after he participated in The Bachelorette that year.
According to People Magazine, Adams then sent her a message on social media and asked if she would like to grab a bite with him. In 2017, dating rumors came about after the two spent Halloween together. On her birthday that year, he booked a helicopter, and the two went to Catalina Island.

During the initial days of dating, Sarah Hyland had to undergo a kidney transplant. Speaking to SELF in 2018, she shared that he texted her in the morning before her surgery and stayed on FaceTime with her the whole time she was in the hospital.
In 2019, Wells Adams and Sarah Hyland got engaged during a vacation. She reportedly posted glimpses from the day on her Instagram. Although they initially planned to get married after their engagement, they decided to wait for some time, as it was during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They eventually tied the knot in 2022 in California. Guests like Nolan Gould, Sofia Vergara, Ariel Winter, and others were in attendance. In May 2025, she shared a heartfelt post on Wells Adams’s birthday, in which she wrote:
“Happy birthday my love! Wishing I could be with you in Paradise to celebrate! I’m so lucky I get to be married to the funniest, kindest, most hard working, generous, and S*XIEST man alive To Pluto and back baby.”
According to Us Weekly, Sarah Hyland told Jimmy Kimmel in 2018 that he first reached out to her by sending a message on social media. She found him funny and knew he liked her show. When she saw him working as a bartender, she thought it was cute.
