English actor Jason Isaacs received his first Emmy nomination for playing Timothy Ratliff in season 3 of The White Lotus, yet his children could not be less impressed. This was unexpected to him, and in a recent interview, he expressed his frank feelings about it.

He said that his daughters Lily (23) and Ruby (20) could not really care less about his nomination. They were more interested in ordinary life events that might happen if they lived alone, such as moving into an apartment and arranging shelves, art for the walls, blinds, and furniture. He said they were "not even mildly" impressed.

"I'm [currently] shooting in Dublin, and I went to Montreal for a couple of days to put my daughter's shelves up and put pictures up and blinds and take her shopping and get furniture for [her] apartment. That's all she cares about — and that's all she should care about with your parents."

He was at the Televerse Festival in Los Angeles on August 16, talking to People:

"I don't mean that it's not incredibly flattering and lovely. I just know that I've been doing this job for a very, very long time, and very rarely do you get this kind of attention."

Jason admitted to having a bit of an imposter syndrome. The show airs on September 14. He also said:

"I kind of look forward to it and I'm kind of scared of it. I get completely starstruck by everybody whose work I admire, and not just the other people in my category, in every category and all the people who aren't nominated."

He felt lucky just to get the part and to stretch his acting muscles.

Jason Isaacs' role and the nomination

Jason Isaacs plays Timothy Ratliff, a southern patriarch who faces trouble with money and almost poisons his family to hide his shame. This complex role pushed Isaacs to explore new emotions. He said,

"Mike White creates these three-dimensional, surprising human beings that behave in the kind of jagged and particular ways they do, and asks of all the actors to go to places they don't normally go. I felt like I won an award just getting the part and getting to do it and getting to stretch all those muscles and have all those challenges."

Season 3 of The White Lotus did very well at the 2025 Emmy Awards. The season got 23 total nominations, and Jason Isaacs was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Others like Walton Goggins and Sam Rockwell were also in that category.

Jason Isaacs said playing the role felt like winning an award already, even before the Emmy nod. He credited Mike White for writing real and jagged characters that go to places actors do not often get to explore.

Jason Isaacs' humble thoughts and everyday life

Jason Isaacs talked about everyday life as well:

"I feel like I'm not seen. I don't want to be seen. I want to create characters, and then I get on the subway every day, I go to the supermarket every day. I have one of those faces that people forget instantly, and hopefully they watch when I'm being more interesting people on the screen."

He admitted that he does not want to think too much about prizes and wants to stay true to the work itself.

Jason Isaacs' honesty and his humble nature are evident. He keeps a low profile and wants his work to generate discourse and not his personal life.
