After starring as a 20th-century industrialist in Brady Corbet's The Brutalist, Guy Pearce might be up to playing a media mogul in Danny Boyle's upcoming feature film, Ink.
According to an exclusive Deadline report, Guy Pearce is being considered to play Rupert Murdoch, the business magnate and founder of the NewsCorp media conglomerate. He is expected to star alongside the Sinners and 28 Years Later star Jack O’Connell in negotiations to star as Murdoch's associate, British newspaper editor Larry Lamb.
James Graham has adapted his play for the film's screenplay, which centers around the contentious relationship between Murdoch's then-struggling newspaper, The Sun, and The Mirror. That's when Murdoch roped Lamb in to run its operations and turn it into a successful venture. Per Deadline, Boyle's film is anticipated to be:
"An explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news – one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today."
Besides the rivalry between these traditional news outlets, the film is said to capture the cultural impact of their cultural landscape and its culmination in the modern-day British tabloids.
What else do we know about Danny Boyle's film, Ink?

Shortly after the release of 28 Years Later, Danny Boyle will be back in the director's chair for Ink. The filming is expected to commence in October, with Boyle also producing it with Michael Ellenberg, Tessa Ross, and Tracey Seaward, while Tonia Davis will executive produce.
Ron Hapern and Joe Naftalin will be taking care of the project on behalf of Studicanal, who will finance the Danny Boyle film, as per Deadline. They will also be distributors, handling worldwide sales.
Ink is the latest film by Boyle, where he will follow a narrative inspired by a true-life personality, expected to be headlined by Guy Pearce.
In 2015, Boyle directed Steve Jobs, an intense drama film, which centered around the Apple co-founder before the launch of the company's new products. It offered a closer look into his personal and professional life and his relationship with Steve Wozniak and Joanna Hoffman. It starred Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, and Seth Rogen in key roles.
Before that, the filmmaker co-wrote and helmed the 2010 biographical drama, 127 Hours, which followed a grueling real-life conflict from mountaineer Aron Ralston's life, with James Franco in the lead.
What else is Guy Pearce working on?

Guy Pearce is in talks to join the Danny Boyle film, fresh off an Oscar nomination for the Adrien Brody-starrer holocaust drama. Besides that, the Australian actor was recently seen in other projects such as the prison crime thriller Inside, alongside Cosmo Jarvis.
David Cronenberg's The Shrouds was also one of the projects Guy Pearce starred in in 2024, apart from the historical drama film The Convert, released theatrically in New Zealand and Australia.
Guy Pearce has a few more feature film projects on the radar, which include Ned Crowley's Western thriller, Killing Faith, apart from Simon Stone's Netflix thriller, The Woman in Cabin 10, also starring Keira Knightley, Hannah Waddingham, and Kaya Scodelario.
