Fear Street: Prom Queen is the fourth entry in the Fear Street franchise, and it was released on May 23rd, 2025, on Netflix and met with mixed response. The slasher film is adapted from the 1992 book The Prom Queen, which is a part of the Fear Street series of books. Here's the official synopsis of the film:
When the "it" girls competing for prom queen at Shadyside High start to disappear, a gutsy outsider discovers she's in for one hell of a prom night.
The film had a post-credit scene that would connect it to the original trilogy. This scene was to show one of the original actors from the first movie to appear, tying it to the original. But this crossover was ruled out and was not kept in the movie.
Fear Street: Prom Queen almost had a different post-credit scene
Fear Street: Prom Queen had an alternate post-credit scene that would have connected it to the trilogy of the franchise. It had Nancy Falconer (played by Katherine Waterston) lying dead on the floor, and her blood forms the mark of the devil, which is a symbol in the entire franchise.
It was also the same symbol in a spellbook that someone stole towards the end of Fear Street Part 3: 1666 during the post-credit scene. If the scene had been retained, it would have connected these two worlds together. Matt Palmer, the director of Fear Street: Prom Queen, spoke to The Direct about the post-credit scene and wrote,
"There was a conception that there could be, like a 1990 movie, that would be like a Satanic Panic... In the original writing, there was a scene with one of the actors from the first movie coming back. And the idea was that the Falconers had actually tried to, kind of get rid of the Prom Queens [with] sort of devil worshiping, satanic-like means, but it kind of failed, so [they] needed to go old school and do it with their hands."
He added,
"But it kind of, yeah, we, for various reasons, we couldn't film that post-credit sequence. So it's a bit of hanging off DNA. But I do like the idea potentially of somebody else tying in what's been going on here to the other movies a bit more closely with a 1990..."

For the final part of her audition, she was asked to improvise a scene as if she were the real killer.
"I was a little bit put on the spot. I was a little nervous about that, because that’s a big responsibility to take on in just one moment."
