Gunna recently took to social media to post a message about loyalty. The singer stated in a post on Instagram on December 15, 2025:
The real flex is keeping a good heart when life keeps giving you reasons not to. When you been lied to, used, switched up on and counted out... but you still show love. You still got loyalty in you. Still show up for people, even when nobody showed up for you. That's rare. That's powerful.
The rapper continued:
"Cause this world will test you, drain you and try to turn you cold... and if you still moving with good intentions after everything you been through, you got the kind of heart they can't find twice..."
This message of loyalty has sparked debates on the net, as exemplified by the tweets quoted below. Some netizens believed that the rapper was playing the victim after he turned on the rest of the YSL with his Alford Plea deal:
"Bro playing victim now."
"Why does this man try to act like he’s the victim when he turned on the person who put him on."
"He objectively snitched on the man who gave him everything, he doesn’t have a good heart."
"Cry me river, this dude betrayed his brothers nobody wanna see him play the victim role...dude a f**kin narc"
However, others were supportive of the rapper and his message. One reactor stated:
"Andd, that’s why he is WINNING in life. Spirituality, mentally, professionally, romantically (he loves his lady), and financially. As you get older, as a man, our mission is to GROW and HEAL. Remove all toxicity out our lives and pour into positivity. @1GunnaGunna IS THAT GUY!"
"People in the comments cause Gunna not doing 20 years in jail. Wonder what these internet thugs would've done in his situation? ...."
"This why he up rn compared to all his peers."
More on Gunna's fallout with YSL
Gunna took an Alford Deal for his RICO charge case. An Alford Plea, as per Legal Dictionary, is a form of plea where one admits to being guilty legally while maintaining their claim of innocence personally.
Gunna was sentenced to five years in prison, which was later commuted by one year for time served. The rest of his sentence was suspended on probation terms, and he was released from prison on the same day. He was required to do 500 hours of community service.
Young Thug has since then maintained that Gunna is partly responsible for the YSL case turning into a RICO case. In leaked jail calls earlier this year, Thug is heard talking about the same claim:
"He gave the jurors the agreement that it’s a gang. He said, ‘YSL is a gang’ and he know people on this trial who committed crimes in furtherance of the gang… you don’t know nobody on this case, that’s a lie!"
Young Thug continued:
"That’s a full blown lie. ‘I know individuals on this case that committed crimes in furtherance of a gang’… just so you could say slime did it? That’s RICO.”
Gunna also covered up his YSL tattoos and has now left the record label, with his mid-2025 album, The Last Wun, being the last album under the YSL Records. The album has been successful so far, charting at the 3rd spot on the Billboard 200 album chart, as well as the 9th spot on the UK album chart, among other successes.
