Javier Badillo's film Lupe Q and the Galactic Earworms stars the Canadian singer Bif Naked, along with actors Pamela Caroline Martinez and Joshua Odjick, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

This sci-fi comedy follows the plot of a Latinx punk rock band, who come to realize that one of their band members, Lupe, is rather gifted with a high-pitched shriek that has the power to put an end to an impending alien ambush.

The Venezuelan-Canadian filmmaker and producer, Javier Badillo, comes with his second directorial, Lupe Q and the Galactic Earworms. He made his debut feature with Roads Of Ithriyah in 2022.

The film is helmed as well as penned by Javier Badillo, who has jointly written the film with Nat Marshik. Here is what the Leo-nominated director said about the upcoming film, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter:

“Punk rock. Creepy space aliens. Young romance. It’s the underdog-buddy-comedy-space opera I’ve been waiting to write ever since I was an angsty Latin American kid shrieking into a mic and cranking my guitar amp to 11.”

As per the outlet, Lupe Q and the Galactic Earworms are currently at their production stage in the countryside of Vancouver, Canada. Production houses Filmoption Productions, Spitshine Flicks, and Holiday Pictures are associated with the film.

Currently, the makers of the film are looking for foreign purchasers at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival for its international release. The Vice President of Filmoption, Isabelle Legault, talks about the vision and the upcoming plans for the film's future, as she says:

“We are proud to champion a project that centers diverse voices and speaks directly to a new generation of audiences hungry for originality and authenticity. We believe this electrifying mix of music, queer identity, and alien mayhem will resonate across borders - and we look forward to launching it globally through festivals in 2026, followed by a wide theatrical release in Canada.”

Pamela Caroline Martinez portrays the character of Lupe in Lupe Q and the Galactic Earworms. She has previously worked on Loken Charon's The Red Knows (2022). Along with her is the legendary Canadian musician Bif Naked, who essays the role of Buzkill DJ.

It will also feature Joshua Odjick, who has previously acted in Wildhood (2021), Bones of Crows (2022), Heritage Minutes (2022), Darkest Miriam (2023), etc. Lupe's celebrity mother, Karen, is played by the Canadian Screen Award-winning actor Laurence Leboeuf. She is known for her work in My Daughter, My Angel (2007), 19-2 (2014-2017), and Transplant (2020-2024), to name a few.
