Anniversary: Release date news, cast details, streaming details, and more about the Diane Lane and Dylan O'Brien starrer thriller

Anniversary is the forthcoming film in the thriller genre, directed by Jan Komasa. The screenplay is written by Lori Rosene-Gambino, who has also penned the story with Komasa.

"A close-knit family is torn apart as a new movement known as “The Change” envelops the country."

Lionsgate will be releasing Anniversary theatrically on October 29, 2025, produced by Kate Churchill, Steve Schwartz, Nick Wechsler, and Paula Mae Schwartz.

The shooting began in Dublin, Ireland, in July 2023, which was halted when the writer-actor's strike in Hollywood began the same year. After a waiver was granted, the production was eventually allowed.

In a statement to People Magazine, Diane Lane spoke about doing the film and said:

"I’m grateful for this powerful, timely story and the inspiring, generous cast who brought it to life. Jan Komasa’s brilliant direction of Lori Rosene-Gambino’s script holds a mirror to our national identity crisis through the lens of one family. I’m so proud of my Anniversary family!"

What is the plot of Anniversary?

The film focuses on Ellen and Paul Taylor, who are celebrating a special occasion. However, things change for them after they learn that their son Josh is seeing Liz, who was Ellen's student back in the day. Liz slowly becomes a part of their family, affecting their overall well-being.

She is also a part of a movement called the Change, which further starts changing things for everyone. Ellen starts looking into Liz's behavior and tells her husband that she had a radical ideology in university. While Paul feels people change, Ellen doesn't feel the same about her.

In June 2020, Komasa spoke to Variety about getting the writer on board for the film, saying:

"I was delighted when I got my hands on Lori’s Fritz Lang script. Carving all the rigorously researched elements out of the legendary German filmmaker’s life was both intriguing and revelatory. When I read it I knew I had to meet Lori and now I’m excited to collaborate with such a rare talent on ‘Anniversary."
