The Alliance of Women Film Journalists has officially announced its 2025 EDA Awards winners. The EDA Awards are named in honor of Eda Reiss Merin, who is the mother of AWFJ founder Jennifer Merin. Eda Reiss Merin was a stage, film, and television actress. She was also one of the founders of AFTRA.
The Alliance of Women Film Journalists' 2024 EDA Awards winners were as follows,
- Best film: The Brutalist
- Best director: Coralie Fargeat, The Substance
- Best screenplay, original: The Substance, Coralie Fargeat
- Best screenplay, adapted: Conclave, Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold
- Best documentary: Dahomey, Mati Diop
- Best animated film: Flow (Tie), The Wild Robot (Tie)
- Best actress: Marianne Jean Baptiste, Hard Truths
- Best supporting actress: Isabella Rossellini, Conclave
- Best actor: Colman Domingo, Sing Sing
- Best supporting actor: Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain
- Best ensemble cast and casting director: Conclave
- Best cinematography: Nosferatu
- Best editing: Emilia Perez (Tie), The Brutalist (Tie)
- Best international film: The Seed of the Sacred Fig
EDA Female Focus Awards 2024
- Best woman director: Coralie Fargeat, The Substance (Tie), Payal Kapadia, All We Imagine As Light (Tie)
- Best female screenwriter: Coralie Fargeat, The Substance (Tie), Payal Kapadia, All We Imagine As Light (Tie)
- Best animated or voiced performance: Lupita N'yongo, The Wild Robot
- Best women’s breakthrough performance: Mikey Madison, Anora
- Best female stunt performance: June Squibb, Thelma
The Alliance of Women Film Journalists' 2025 EDA Awards winners' list is mainly dominated by films such as One Battle After Another, Hamnet, Sinners, and Sentimental Value. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another led all nominees with twelve nominations. It was followed by Chloé Zhao's Hamnet with ten, Ryan Coogler's Sinners with eight, and Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value with seven nods.
However, Sinners became the most awarded film of the year. It bagged multiple top honors, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Screenplay. Hamnet secured recognition for Jessie Buckley's lead performance and for its adapted screenplay. Sentimental Value earned Best International Film and Best Supporting Actor at the 2025 Alliance of Women Film Journalists EDA Awards.

"The Alliance of Women Film Journalists' EDA Awards recognize the amazing work done by and about women, both in front and behind the camera. AWFJ presents EDA Awards at year's end and throughout the year at selected film festivals. The EDAs are named in honor of AWFJ founder Jennifer Merin’s mother, Eda Reiss Merin, a stage, film and television actress whose career spanned more than 60 years. A dedicated foot soldier in the industry, Eda was one of the founders of AFTRA and a long-standing Member of AMPAS."
