Welcome to the Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on Days of our Lives

Rosebud? Really? REALLY?!?!? Is this some kind of April Fool's joke? A mysterious man dies uttering the word "Rosebud" right before he takes his last breath. Never mind that DAYS tried to trick us and Marlena into believing this man was John when we know Drake Hogestyn was too ill to work when John's exit story was crafted. The story has now taken on a classic movie theme that our Salem faves seem oblivious to. Marlena and Steve were so confused when the mysterious scientist said "Rosebud" as if they had never seen the movie Citizen Kane. "Rosebud? What is that?" they kept asking. All we wanted to scream was "A sled. It's a freakin' sled! Did you guys really not see this movie?" We half expected Dr. Carl to drop a snow globe right before he died, but no such luck. Are we going to feel like we're watching Citizen's Kane for weeks as the characters try to figure out what Rosebud is? That was the whole premise of the film. In the end, all Charles Foster Kane was talking about was the childhood sled he had to leave behind when he was taken from his parents as a small boy. Will we find out that John once owned a sled as a child that he missed so much, it became the last thing he thought of before he disappeared? Since John's mysterious past has been revealed layer by layer for decades, perhaps this is just how his story ends.
