What happened to Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives, you ask? Well, he and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) took their baby Jude and began a new life in Paris in July 2024. Eric has been back a couple of times since then, particularly when John died. His portrayer, Greg Vaughn, has stated that exiting wasn’t fully his idea, and fans are always glad when he returns to Salem. In the meantime, he’s got a lot of stuff to deal with in the real world, especially celebrating a new milestone in his son’s life.

A huge transition

Days of Our Lives star Greg Vaughan shared some photos on Instagram and captioned them, “From California skies to Carolina tides, with Texas grit and a touch of European roots—every memory and mile we’ve shared has led you here. Now a freshman at the University of Alabama, stepping into dorm life, roommates, and fraternity brotherhood…maybe even an extra freshman 15lbs.” He was, of course, talking about his son Jathan, and ended that sentence with a crying-laughing emoji. He continued with, “Khakis, ties, loafers, and buckskin tips—he’s embracing the southern manor ways, becoming a man now and forever. With a senior big sis keeping an eye on you, proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. I love ya, son! #RTR.” At the very end was an elephant emoji.

#RTR stands for ‘Roll Tide Roll,’ the rallying cry for the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide sports teams, particularly football. Thus, Vaughan was giving a shout-out to “Bama pride” and showed his loving support for his son as he transitions into college. The elephant represents the team mascot named Big Al. Vaughan’s longtime love, Shanna Moakler, commented, “Such a proud moment, babe!!! Go Jathan!!! Rollll tide.”

Preparing for dorm life

The pictures that the Days of Our Lives star attached were of him and Jathan, who not only looks like his dad, but also bears a passing resemblance to General Hospital’s Asher Antonyzyn (Danny). They stood proudly in front of the University’s flag. Next was a shot of a bar with a giant ‘Alabama’ sign on the wall, and several TVs playing sporting events under it. After that was Jathan and possibly a friend, or even his college roommate, in a dorm room. Finally, there was a group photo of family and friends who partook in Jathan’s going-away celebration.

Not only was his post lovingly flooded with congratulatory responses from Days of Our Lives fans, but there were also many shouts of “Roll tide!” @debdel4, an alumnus of The University of Alabama, shared some words of experience with, “Congrats and enjoy all that Alabama has to offer! My daughter graduated with her graduate and PhD degrees from Alabama…wonderful school and community, and Tuscaloosa is a fun place, especially Bama football. (Find out about Vaughan’s major health scare.)
