Knowing that a child shot him changes everything for EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel). He does not want to see his niece in all this trouble, especially a little girl who is so young. However, he can't allow his own son to go to prison for something he didn't do. It's quite a dilemma, even if Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) wasn't begging and pleading with him.
All Kristen wants is more time to figure out what to do to protect her child. She has to come up with some sort of plan that will ensure that Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Rachel (Alice Halsey) don't end up in life-altering trouble. Rachel didn't mean to shoot EJ. She just didn't realize the damage she could do by waving around that gun.
Marlena (Deidre Hall) is more worried about Rachel's emotional and mental state than anything else. While EJ and Kristen bicker downstairs and try to find a solution, Marlena does her best to distract Rachel while the jury deliberates.
Unlike trials on other soaps, we get to see the jury in action as foreman Leo (Greg Rikaart) leads the deliberations. Expect to be both amused and entertained.
Sophia's dilemma
When Brady (Eric Martsolf) learns that his little girl is the one who shot EJ, he will be devastated, but first, he has to comfort his devastated son. Tate (Leo Howard) truly thought reaching out to his baby's alleged adoptive parents would work, but now he realizes he may never get to see his own child.
Brady does his best to be a support to Tate, but he doesn't quite know the right words to say. Tate had looked forward to at least holding his baby for a few moments, and now he has nothing.
Sophia (Rachel Boyd) remains distraught over the entire ordeal and turns to Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), the only person besides Melinda (Tina Huang) who knows what really happened to her baby. Sarah urges Sophia to come clean with Tate and tell him that he has already met his son. His name is Tesoro, and he lives in the Hernandez house.
