A tidal wave of strange washed over Salem last week. Up was down. Down was up. Inside was out. Outside was in. And the only thing that seemed to stay the same was everyone drank too much coffee. So, grab a cup of Joe and read this week's Two Scoops!
In the interest of full disclosure, I had an insane schedule last week. Couple that with being sidelined by a head cold that everyone seems to be passing around, and I was a bit behind on life in Salem as well as breathing without wheezing. So imagine my surprise when I starting watching my DAYS-o-thon Saturday morning only to find out that up is down, down is up, and there's a whole lot of crazy happening in our little hamlet.

To begin with, I finally found out why the message boards crashed and Twitter was clogged up -- E.J. and Abigail had sex. Twice. I thought at first it was the meds I was on causing me to hallucinate, but the ample flashbacks of their little tryst confirmed I wasn't simply dazed and confused. It happened. Oh, Lord.
Yeah, so at least Jennifer and Dr. Dan aren't the most talked about couple on DAYS anymore. There's that. Other than that, I'm still a bit shell-shocked. I'm somewhere between, "What the hell just happened!?", "Seriously!?", "OMG!" and, well, sneezing, so bear with me as I try to reel in my rapidly spinning, NyQuil-drenched thoughts.
Okay, on a superficial level, I don't blame Abigail. She said it best by stating, "It is not that ridiculous that she would want to sleep with you, E.J. Any woman with a pulse would want to sleep with [you]." Can't really argue that, can we, folks?
The rest is totally up for debate, however, and I'm still not sure how I feel about this. In fact, I think I need a stress ball with Roman's face on it that states "What da hell?" when squeezed because I'm feeling a bit anxious about the entire storyline right now, but maybe that's a good thing. Again, bear with me.
I love me some EJami. That hasn't changed. But maybe this mess isn't such a horrible thing, either. It shook up the audience and has everyone talking. And talking leads to people checking out DAYS to see what all the fuss is about. And people checking out DAYS leads to ratings. So when you look at it that way, well, maybe this shocker is a good thing for the show on a whole.
Still, I doubt many EJami fans are looking at it that way right now, but I have one more morsel of hope left to spread. Most EJami fans didn't think they'd bounce back from the Sydnapping, or the attempted murder, or, heck, pick any of the other vicious things those two have done to each other. Hell, most EJamites didn't even think they would ever be a legit couple. So, maybe E.J. and Abigail's tryst is just this year's shot to the head? I'm going to go with that for the moment and move on.
Adding even more "What da hell?!" to last week was the reveal that John and Brady aren't Brady/DiMeras. They're simply, well, we don't know yet. I hope they go back to being Alamains, but that's just me selfishly hoping Vivian will hand-deliver the family crest to them. So I digress.
With the exception of Robo-John living it up at the DiMera Mansion, I'm a little disappointed that the writers recanted history...again. Methinks this is just a cheap rewrite so Brady and Theresa can, uh, "rehab" together at some point or another, but I hope there's more to it than that, or else I want a bottle of Xanax compliments of the writers for all the faux Irish accents they forced us to endure during the Santeen saga.
LOOSE ENDS: For some news that wasn't shocking, Guy Wilson finally made his debut as NuWill last week. It seems like we've been counting this moment down for a while. I'm eager to see what he does with the role, and I fully welcome him to Salem, USA!
It was interesting to actually see Maggie at an A.A. meeting. We know she always goes to them, but there was something about seeing her there that was powerful. Of course, neither Brady nor Theresa were really being team plAAyers, but I hope we see more of their on-screen semi-recovery.
I'm a little bummed that DAYS broke up Victor and Marlena. I knew that since the truth was out, they didn't have much reason to hang out, but I did enjoy their plotting while it lasted. Oh, well, 'dem are the breaks.
Speaking of brakes, can someone hit them and stop the car. I want out. I can't handle Gabi's hysterics right now. Maybe that's the cold meds talking. Regardless, E.J. should always follow Gabi around to tell her to shut up. I'd support that.
Again, I admit I don't have many decisive thoughts about the E.J./Abigail hookup yet, but I do know that Abigail totally threw Chad under the bus. Not cool. And just what was E.J. thinking? Er, well, I kind of know what he was thinking with. I just feel bad for Chad. He took a bullet for E.J., and his brother repaid him by sleeping with his ex. Nope. Not cool at all. And worse, we probably won't get to see Chad's reaction played out on-screen when this bomb detonates. I thrice repeat, "Not cool."
Finally, the Jordan mystery deepens with the arrival of Sheryl. I think I like this so much because it's giving Lucas screen time, and hopefully a love interest! But I am not going to get too excited. It's Lucas I'm talking about after all. He's Gen X's Roman. So, I'll quietly hope for the best while trying to figure out what happened between former friends Jordan and Sheryl.
Something big went down, that's for sure. Jordan and Sheryl's conversation made me pause. It almost had a "we broke up" vibe to it, but I don't think either of these gals is a lesbian or bisexual. Then again, E.J. and Abigail slept together, so, really, anything is possible these days.
HOT I really love that everyone in Salem loves Eric so much and is willing to help him. This storyline is working as its incorporating a lot of characters into the mix. Not to mention, the chemistry between Greg Vaughn and Arianne Zucker is captivating. And the icing on the cake is that Stefano is up to his old tricks again. Nope. No more Mr. Nice Phoenix, and that's a good thing.
NOT God, Kate! Go to work. Stop lurking. It's beneath you. LINE OF THE WEEK Nicole (to the drug dealer): "Don't you talk smack to a lady with a knife!"
RANDOM THOUGHTS Brady's glass hiding place brings new meaning to drink box.
D'oh! Nicole called Marlena "Mar." Love it!
Um, what's wrong with the Horton Cabin? It used to look a lot different.
I loved Theresa's reaction to watching Ciara and Hope's talk. Hysterical!
I am seriously going to Salem to open a condom kiosk in the town square. Although I don't think anyone there knows what to do with them. Sigh.
Jennifer and Dr. Dan really need to look where they are going, or at least wear a bell around their necks so people can hear them coming.
In a not-so-shocking DAYS moment last week, Gabi wore ugly pants again.
Oh, good Lord, Rafe. Don't bring up stupid things like your sister's ruined wedding. What's next? Is he going to see Abigail near some elevators and say, "Hey, didn't your dad die on one of these?" Sometimes less is more, Rafenstein.
Sometimes I think Shawn Christian's comedic chops are underutilized. The guy can be awfully funny!
Oh, oh! Abigail should go to Marlena for psychological help. That would be interesting for sure.
Being from the Pittsburgh area, I'm a little excited that the Steelers are being represented on DAYS! I say "a little," as I think the last time I watched a football game was, um, okay, I can't even remember, so I digress. I'm just a little stumped, as I always thought Rafe was a Chicago fan. Oh, well! Wave that Terrible Towel, you two lovebirds.
PARTING THOUGHTS So, friends and fellow DAYS fans, that's Two Scoops for the week of January 13. Since I'm still a bit shocked and delirious from cold meds, I'm going to go Vicks VapoRub myself into a coma. But don't worry. Laurisa will be back next week to slap some sense back into Salem, and "That's a fact!"
As always, thanks for reading! Tony
