At the Brady Pub, Kate stared at Jada’s name on her phone. Kate thought about her conversation with Vivian about Philip and the forgery. Vivian had offered to use some of the Titan money to finance the soap opera. At the thought, Kate stuffed her cell phone back in her pocket.

In Philip’s room at the Salem Inn, Vivian confirmed that Kate knew about the forged letter, but not about Philip’s knowledge. “Thank you for protecting me,” Philip said. Vivian noted that she was happy to employ her skill at forgery. “I may have forged the letter but the sentiments were Victor’s,” Vivian added. “So you keep saying. And I take it my mother was none too happy about all this,” Philip said. Vivian informed Philip that she had convinced Kate not to call the police.

“Why would my mother not be a problem? She despises you,” Philip said. Vivian laughed, and she explained she had cut Kate in on the deal. When Vivian asked about Xander, Philip dismissed the question, and he pressed Vivian for more details on her conversation with Kate. “Not to worry. Kate and I still think you are the heir to Victor’s estate,” Vivian assured Philip. Philip sighed with relief. Tired, Vivian lay down for a nap.

Kate walked up to Jada at the police station. “I have knowledge of the whereabouts of a fugitive at large,” Kate said. Kate told Jada that she had been with Philip at the Salem Inn, and she had witnessed Vivian slip into a room. Jada thanked Kate for the tip, and she hurried out. Kate called Philip and asked him to meet her at the pub without Vivian.

When Philip arrived at the pub, Kate was already sitting at a table. “Once again you sneak into town, and you don’t say a word to me,” Kate said. Philip apologized. “I got busy, but you were the next stop on my list,” Philip promised. Kate asked about Vivian, and Philip promised that Vivian was asleep at the hotel. Kate started to tell Philip that Vivian had forged Victor’s letter, but Philip admitted he had known the truth.

“I know you must think that what I’m doing is reprehensible, but–,” Philip started. “Actually, I don’t,” Kate countered. Kate agreed with Vivian. “You should be running your father’s company,” Kate said. Kate added that she was grateful that Vivian had forged the letter. “That said, now that she has fulfilled her purpose, she needs to go,” Kate said. “But Mom, this was all Vivian’s idea. I can’t just get rid of her now,” Philip said. Kate told Philip that she had spoken to the police about Vivian.

“Clever. And I have to admit, I always had a hard time believing you’d actually be willing to work with Vivian,” Philip said. “I have to give her credit. It was a fairly persuasive argument. Kate Roberts considered it for a moment, but then Mrs. Roman Brady intervened, realizing it would risk her marriage and everything she’s worked so hard for to get involved with that witch,” Kate said.

“Does this mean Mrs. Roman Brady is going to rat me out too?” Philip asked. Kate promised not to tell Xander the truth. “I said that you deserved the company, and I meant it. You just don’t need me involved, and you definitely should not have Vivian involved,” Kate said.

Philip worried aloud that Kate would snitch on him, but Kate argued that Vivian would not want to add fraud to the list of charges against her. “The only thing she’s gonna be doing is wheeling around that library cart at Statesville while you, my darling son, will control the whole company all to yourself,” Kate said.

In the Hernandez kitchen, Gabi stared at her signed divorce papers. Rafe returned home from physical therapy. “What you got there?” Rafe asked. “Divorce papers from Stefan. They were delivered last night,” Gabi said. Rafe said he was sorry since he knew that Gabi had had doubts about the divorce. “I was wrong [about Stefan having second thoughts too]. And his signature proves it,” Gabi said. Rafe noted that Gabi had not signed the papers.

“Obviously you do not want to go through with the divorce. Why don’t you just talk to the guy?” Rafe asked. When Gabi noted that Rafe had not been the first person to advise that, Javier danced into the room. Rafe eagerly greeted his cousin. “Didn’t Gabi tell you? I’m here to stay if it’s okay with you,” Javier said. Gabi interjected to explain that Javier had arrived right before her divorce papers, and he had taken her out for drinks.

“I was going to mention it when we got back, but you and Jada were asleep,” Gabi explained. Rafe insisted that Javier was welcome in the house because he was family. “And by the way, I will fully be able to pay the rent. Gabriela was kind enough to offer me a job as her assistant,” Javier said. Rafe told Javier not to worry about rent.

“I’m so sorry to hear about your mom,” Rafe said. Rafe noted that his aunt had held a special place in his heart. “She felt the same way about you,” Javier said. Rafe asked if they had seen the engagement ring that Javier’s father had sent. Javier held up his hand to show off the ring. “It’s right here,” Javier said. Javier noted that he had put it on and was reluctant to take it off.

“Truth be told, I’m thinking of keeping it,” Javier said. “Oh. I don’t know if it was made clear, but Tía Hilda sort of left it to me,” Rafe said. With a shrug, Javier reminded Rafe that he was Hilda’s son. Rafe admitted that he wanted to propose to Jada with the ring. Gabi gasped. Javier admitted that it was a romantic gesture.

“I’m so happy for you!” Gabi said. Gabi added that when she saw Rafe open the ring box, she hoped he would use it to propose. Rafe admitted that he had decided to propose to Jada after he had awoken from his coma. “I am so glad that you are conscious and you are back to your annoying self again,” Javier said. “Having a near-death experience made me realize a lot of things. And one of them, [was that] I want to spend the rest of my life with Jada,” Rafe said.

After Rafe left, Javier fixed margaritas and asked Gabi about Jada. “She’s gorgeous, she’s smart, she doesn’t take any BS. In short, she’s fabulous. You’ll love her,” Gabi said. Javier admitted that he was relieved that his mother’s ring would be a good person. “Jada and Rafe together, they make such a beautiful couple. God knows my brother deserves some happiness after three failed marriages,” Gabi said. Javier choked on his drink.

“I heard that Rafael was unlucky in love, but I didn’t realize he’d been divorced three times,” Javier said. Gabi lamented that she was about to tie her brother’s divorce record. As Gabi stared at her divorce papers, Javier told her he was still rooting for her and Stefan. “And clearly you are, too. I don’t see any ink on these papers yet, and that ring is still wrapped around that bony little finger of yours,” Javier said. Gabi noted that she needed to accept that her marriage was over.

Javier told Gabi to find Stefan and talk to him. With a smirk, Gabi asked if she should take the advice of someone who had always been single. “Except who was that guy you almost married and called off the wedding?” Gabi asked. Javier explained his ex had been the valet at a restaurant. “For your information, I was the one who called things off with Mateus. Not only because we disagreed on everything political, but he also mispronounced my name,” Javier said. Gabi winced. Javier changed the subject back to Gabi and urged her to find Stefan and talk things out. With a nod, Gabi grabbed her papers and left.

In the penthouse, Tate told Brady about his conversation with Holly. “She wants to get back together,” Tate said. “And I can tell by your demeanor that that’s maybe not a good thing?” Brady asked. Tate admitted that he had slept with another girl. Brady asked when it had happened, and Tate admitted it had been the previous night.

“Last night you were home,” Brady pointed out. Tate explained that Sophia had spent the night. “Holly’s friend?” Brady stammered. Tate clarified that Sophia and Holly were no longer friends, but he still felt guilty. “Well, do you feel guilty because you want to be with Sophia, or do you feel guilty because you want to get back together with Holly?” Brady asked. Tate admitted that when he slept with Sophia, he believed his relationship with Holly was over.

“I had no idea that she was gonna come home and want to work things out with us,” Tate said. Brady asked Tate what he wanted. With a groan, Tate admitted that he did not know. “I was so angry at Holly for what she tried to do to you, but then you should have heard her apology, Dad,” Tate said. Tate noted that Holly appeared genuinely sad that she had hurt Tate.

“God, if she only had just come home a day earlier,” Tate said. “Does that mean that you regret sleeping with Sophia?” Brady asked. Tate shook his head no. “I don’t. I actually really like Sophia. I just–,” Tate started. As Tate paused, Brady added, “You just like Holly a little more.” Brady argued that it sounded like Tate wanted to get back together with Holly. “Even if that is true, what about Sophia? I just slept with her last night. What kind of guy just does that and then dumps the girl the next day?” Tate said. Brady agreed it was a bad situation. Tate asked Brady if he should give Sophia a chance.

“I can’t tell you what to do. What I can tell you is you’re not doing Sophia any favors at all by just staying with her because you feel obligated. It’s good that you don’t want to hurt her, okay, but you’re really gonna hurt her if you stay with her while Holly has your heart,” Brady advised. Tate theorized aloud that if he gave Sophia a chance, he might grow to love her as much as he loved Holly. Brady chuckled.

“Anything’s possible. But I think you really need to dig deep down and think whether that can actually happen,” Brady said. Brady noted that love was rarely rational. “I think it’s commendable that you don’t want to hurt anybody, but in this kind of scenario, it might be unavoidable,” Brady said. Brady advised Tate to be honest with himself about what he wanted.

“And then you’re going to have to be honest with Sophia and Holly,” Brady said. Tate worried aloud that Holly would hate him for having slept with Sophia. “That’s a risk you’re going to have to take,” Brady said. Brady argued that it would be worse if Holly learned the truth later from someone else.

“You and Holly were broken up, so technically you’re not cheating,” Brady added. “Then why does it feel like I did?” Tate asked. Brady nodded knowingly. “Probably because Holly had your heart the entire time,” Brady said. “She did,” Tate whispered. With a groan, Tate called himself a jerk for having slept with Holly’s best friend. “You have a good heart, and we all make mistakes,” Brady said. Brady told Tate that he loved him and believed in him. After a hug, Brady added that if Tate invited a girl to stay over again without permission, he would be grounded.

In the square, Sophia was surprised to see Holly walk around the corner. “Holly, there’s something you should know,” Sophia said. “What? That you still hate me with every fiber of your being?” Holly asked. With a smirk, Sophia said she had news about Tate. Holly scoffed. “I just thought you should know that while you were away, Tate and I were hanging out,” Sophia said. “Tate told me,” Holly said. Sophia was taken aback.

“I didn’t know you two were on speaking terms,” Sophia said. Holly explained that she had just visited Tate, and they had talked. “I told Tate that I wanted us to get back together,” Holly said. Sophia stifled a laugh and asked Holly if she believed that Tate would take her back after what had happened. “You tried to dig up evidence to put his dad in prison, who, as it turns out, is an innocent man!” Sophia argued. Holly admitted she had made a mistake and apologized to Tate.

“You betrayed Tate and hurt him deeply,” Sophia said. “Tate actually seemed pretty cool about the whole thing,” Holly argued. Sophia blanched. “What does that mean? Is he taking you back?” Sophia asked. “Not exactly,” Holly admitted. With a sigh of relief, Sophia noted that Tate was too smart to fall for Holly’s tricks. Holly clarified that Tate had not given her a yes or a no, and she had told Tate to take his time to decide.

“So that’s how you two left it?” Sophia asked. “Yeah. And when he’s ready, I’m sure he’ll get back to me,” Holly said. Sophia hinted that there was more to know. Holly admitted that she had not previously considered Sophia’s feelings for Tate and was sorry she had not been more sensitive to Sophia. “But I’m not just gonna step aside so you can, like, make your move on Tate now,” Holly said. Sophia started to tell Holly that she had slept with Tate, but Sophia’s phone rang with a call from her mother. Holly stomped away.

When Holly returned to the Kiriakis mansion, she sat on the couch and stared at her phone. Tate walked into the living room. “What are you doing here?” Holly asked. “I’ve been thinking a lot about what you said earlier about us getting back together,” Tate said. Tate admitted that he had talked to his father and advised Tate to be honest with himself.

“What do you want?” Holly asked. “It took me a minute to realize it, but what I really want is to get back together with you,” Tate said. Holly smiled, and she asked Tate if he forgave her. “Of course I forgive you,” Tate said. Holly hugged Tate. “Makes me so relieved,” Holly said. Tate gently pushed Holly away. “There is something else that I need to tell you,” Tate said. Holly asked what was wrong.

“When I told you I was with Sophia the other night, I omitted a very key detail. We weren’t just hanging out. We hooked up,” Tate said. “You slept with Sophia?” Holly stammered. As Tate nodded yes, Holly gasped and said she felt sick. Tate said that although he wanted to be with Holly, he could not.

“I feel like I have to give Sophia a chance. You know, she’s been there for me, and we’ve gotten close, and I don’t know, I feel like I have to at least see where our relationship could go,” Tate said. Holly narrowed her eyes and growled, “Your relationship?” Tate explained that Holly had left town, and he had attempted to move on. “I am so sorry. I really am. More sorry than you’ll ever know,” Tate said. Tate walked out, and Holly broke down in tears.

At the Salem Inn, Jada kicked in the door to Vivian’s hotel room. Jada arrested Vivian. “How did you even find me?” Vivian asked. “A concerned citizen spotted you here,” Jada said. Vivian scowled. “Kate,” Vivian hissed.

As Jada started to escort Vivian to the station, Rafe called Jada’s phone. Rafe asked Jada to join him for dinner, and she agreed to meet up with him after she booked Vivian at the station. Rafe warned Jada to be careful. Over the phone, Rafe heard Jada say, “Vivian? What are you doing?” A gunshot rang out. “Jada!” Rafe yelled.
