Kate asked Roman about his gun. Roman swore he had not shot EJ. When Kate pushed Roman to be honest with her, Roman confessed that Johnny had taken his gun the night of the shooting. Roman told Kate that he had driven to the DiMera mansion, and he had found his gun in a planter on the porch. Roman had wiped the prints off the gun, and he had driven away when he had heard the sirens of an ambulance. Kate told Roman about Philip’s fraud. Both agreed to be more honest with one another.
Johnny told Chanel that he had told EJ that he wished EJ had died. When Chanel pushed Johnny about the shooting, Johnny insisted he had not been the shooter. After Johnny told Chanel that he had accepted a job with Xander, Chanel invited him to move home. As Johnny packed, Paulina asked him if he had shot EJ. Johnny again swore he had not been the shooter.
Kristen begged Alex for a job, but he declined. Kristen complained to Brady about how no one had agreed to attend Rachel’s birthday party. Brady argued that some of the blame was because Rachel was a difficult child. Brady pointed out that Kristen had no friends and was a terrible role model. Brady and Kristen decided to have a family birthday party since no one from school had RSVP’d yes. EJ, Brady, and Kristen attended Rachel’s birthday tea party. Rachel decided to go to bed early after EJ made a comment about the shooter still being on the loose. When Kristen accidentally knocked over a tray, EJ flinched and shook in response to the sound. No one noticed EJ’s reaction because Rachel ran into the room screaming about a nightmare she had.
Kristen wanted to make a deal with EJ for the return of her mother. Brady was opposed unless Rachel Blake got help. When Kristen asked EJ to tell the police she had not been the shooter, he refused.
Alex and Gabi enjoyed their date. After, he met up with Stephanie to tell her he had found her a book editor. Alex asked Xander if he could forgive Philip for Victor’s sake. Xander refused. Xander admitted he was concerned about giving Philip a chance to betray him again.
Paulina appealed to Xander about forgoing a lawsuit against Chanel. Xander agreed to let it go if Abe threw Titan a vote to buy the hospital. Paulina suggested that a job for Theo would secure Abe’s vote.
Philip insisted that Alex tell him about the hospital merger. Alex did not tell Philip about Versavix. Curious, Philip probed Brady for information about the merger, but Brady refused to cooperate. Philip snuck into Alex’s office to snoop, and he found the research on Versavix. Philip asked Kate to speak to the board members on Titan’s behalf. In the hopes of sealing the deal for Xander, Philip reached out to a high school friend who worked in Dr. Russell’s lab, Kevin Lambert.
EJ secured a meeting with the hospital board, but he set a condition on his pitch that it would expire if they did not accept it on the spot. EJ asked Belle to speak to the board members on his behalf, and she agreed. Kayla told Belle why EJ wanted the hospital. Belle said she hoped that EJ had turned over a new leaf and wanted the best for the hospital.
As Sarah recovered in the hospital, she urged Xander to apologize to Felicity and Cat. Xander promised he would. Xander apologized to Cat when he saw her at the hospital, and Cat stressed the importance of Xander making a sincere apology to Felicity in person. Xander promised he would. Cat told a mysterious caller that she refused to help them.
Xander asked Sarah if she wanted to have another baby, and she said yes. While at the hospital, Xander asked Kayla to allow him to pitch for the hospital at the same meeting as EJ. Kayla asked for assurances that Titan would not gouge patients.
Philip asked his old friend Kevin Lambert to help him steal Russell’s sepsis drug and reverse engineer it to cut Russell out. When Philip learned about Xander’s meeting, he decided to go through with his plan to steal the drug anyway in an effort to save Bo. Kevin attempted to steal the drug at the same time as Steve and Shawn. Panicked, Kevin ran out of the lab with all of the Versavix when he heard Steve approach.
Jeffrey Russell returned home early from his conference before Kevin could return the vials of Versavix back to the lab. Jeffrey complained to Kayla, and Steve and Shawn offered to investigate the theft “off the books.” Shawn realized that the theft had been an inside job. When Xander heard about the theft, he confronted Philip. Philip admitted he had coordinated the theft for both the company and to save Bo. Tired of Philip’s betrayals, Xander told him that he wanted to kill him. Xander knocked Philip out.
Marlena warned Tate to make sure that he and Sophia were on the same page about their relationship. Marlena told Tate that she had encouraged Johnny to be honest about his reservations about becoming a father, and Tate agreed that Marlena had given Johnny the right advice. Tate cooked dinner and decorated the penthouse for Sophia’s birthday. Sophia admitted she had not talked to her mom about the adoption plan, but she also confirmed that she had not changed her mind either. Tate fell ill and ended the night early.
Shane told Marlena that they were close to finding John. After Paul and Andrew executed a mission, they called Marlena and confirmed that John had been rescued. Marlena was relieved until Susan had a dire premonition.
