Daytime Emmy Awards recognise the talent of the American soap opera scene, which celebrates the actors and actresses who impress the viewers and the Academy with their acting prowess.

Going through intense levels of emotions and facing impossible challenges that sometimes also mean coming back from the dead. However, sometimes, even after giving authentic or chilling performances, some actors miss out on that Daytime Emmy nomination that they might have deserved for their performance.

7) Christopher Rich

American actor Christopher Rich played Alexander "Sandy" Cory in the daily soap Another World in 1981, due to which he became popular among fans. His character got to know his father, Mac Cory, upon his arrival in Bay City. His character arc involved a complex relationship with his family and loved ones around him, and he became a beloved character.

However, he did not receive a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role.


6) Lane Davies

Lane Davies is a popular name in daily soaps as he has been a part of a couple of them. Although he started working in daily soaps with Days of Our Lives in 1981, but gained prominence with his character Mason Capwell in Santa Barbara.

Davies’s character is described as the black sheep of the Capwell family, around which the show revolves. He initially tries to impress his dictatorial father, C.C. Capwell, but later on gives up on it after C.C. rejects him as his son. Davies’s notorious character was one of the highlights of the show, but unfortunately, he never received a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role.


5) Bryan Dattilo

Bryna Dattilo plays the role of Lucas Horton in Days of Our Lives. He is an important character in Sami Brady’s life as Lucas is the one who helps her in her schemes of keeping Austin and her sister, Carrie, apart until Lucas’s mother, Kate Roberts, reveals their plot.

Dattilo has portrayed the character since 1993 and has recurred many times in the daily soap, but unfortunately, hasn’t been recognized by the Academy yet as he is yet to receive a daytime Emmy nomination.


4) Rick Springfield

Rick Springfield played two roles in General Hospital: Noah Drake and, later, Eli Love. His character, Dr. Noah Drake, was popular among fans. Initially introduced as a playboy, Drake’s character underwent a drastic change when he returned to the daily soap.

He had quit practicing medicine after his wife died on his operating table and became an alcoholic. His recently found son, Patrick, helped him in getting over his wife’s death and gave up alcohol and practice medicine again. Even after portraying different aspects of a character, Rick missed out on being nominated for a daytime Emmy.


3) Tuc Watkins

Tuc Watkins appeared in two popular daily soaps, namely General Hospital and One Life to Live. In the latter, he portrayed the character of David Vickers, who is initially introduced as a con-man, later becomes a monk, and in the end, a popular film actor.

In GH, he played the character of Dr. Pierce Dorman, a formidable character. Later begins a relationship with his senior, Dr. Monica, and threatens her when she wants to break up with him and go back to her husband.

Both the characters left a mark on the show and the fans of it, but Watkins never received a daytime Emmy nomination for any of the roles.


2) Jerry Douglas

Jerry Douglas played the character of John Abbott for 25 years in The Young and the Restless. John and Jack both had a complicated relationship due to their opinions on how to handle Jabot. Their clashes made their relationship a complex one, and they often ended up arguing about it. Moreover, Jack's relationship with Jill Foster, whom John was involved with, further added to their complicated relationship.

Even after portraying a smart and ruthless character for more than two decades, he was never nominated for a daytime Emmy.


1) Joseph Mascolo

One of the most popular villains across daily soaps, Joseph Mascolo, played the role of Stefano DiMera in Days of Our Lives. He was a formidable villain in Roman Brady’s life and also became Marlena’s enemy after he caused her demonic possession and hid her when she was in a coma. He also used John Black as his pawn and wreaked havoc in Roman and Marlena’s lives.

He is one of the most iconic characters from the daily soap, but has never been nominated for a daytime Emmy for it.
