Last week on Coronation Street, from August 12th to August 16th, was an emotional upheaval for many, both on the show — and for viewers. While Billy prepared to lose Paul forever, some friends and family members had no idea they were saying a final goodbye.
Let's take a look at what you missed on this classic British soap opera.
Billy had to come to grips with the inevitable on Coronation Street
It was a distressing week for Billy when Paul told him he was ready to die. Billy slowly accepted their fate that he would wake up in the morning with Paul gone. After many tears, reminiscing, and pleading, Billy agreed to do as he promised as an act of love and end Paul's life. Paul had one request — to wait until after midnight so he wouldn't die on Carys' birthday.
Just as Billy got out the supplies and asked Paul one last time if he was sure, they were interrupted by Chesney. Carys fell down the stairs and needed to go to the hospital, so he left the kids with Billy and Paul overnight as Summer was away.
Joseph and Paul bonded, and when they left the next day, he was calling him Uncle Paul and being affectionate. Paul told him he'd "see them soon," and Billy hoped that he would change his mind. Later Billy asked Paul if he wanted to die that night instead, and Paul said that he wasn't ready.
On Coronation Street, some relationships struggled
Ty and Alina continue to be strained. She was disappointed when Ty offered to take the girls to a film but then canceled the plans to spend time with Dorin.
Rowan and Leanne encouraged Amy to go to the Institute retreat; Mary implied she wanted to go with her. Rowan continued to harass Nick about not pressing charges and demanding 20 grand from him. Nick and Toyah convince Leanne to take Sam on a holiday to visit Simon. When Rowan finds out, he accuses Nick of just wanting to be alone at home with Toyah while Leanne is out of town.
Beth gave Craig an envelope full of money and told him it was for a secret treat she had planned for Kirk. Later, she argued with Kirk, and he suspected she might be hiding something from him.
Tracy returned from Spain and wasn't pleased that Cassie cared for her dad. Tracy and Cassie put Steve in the middle while they name-called each other. Later, Mary came to see Tracy while she visited Kenny. Tracy announced she intended to stay a while and dismissed Cassie.
Ryan and Kit met in the street and decided to go for a pint after bonding over their similar interest in music. Daisy watched them from the bar.
Joel's lies are getting uncovered on Coronation Street
Betsy confided in her mum that Joel hurt her. Lisa took Joel into a questioning room and interrogated him. She asked Joel why he was messaging her daughter and if he bruised Betsy. Joel denied everything. He told Lisa that Betsy had a teenage crush on him. Joel said he humored Betsy at first but she was taking it too far. Lisa seemed to buy his story and drove him home, but later pulled up his police records and saw a long list of criminal activity and physical assaults.
Meanwhile, after Joel seemed reluctant to talk about the wedding details, Dee Dee met with Emily and found out that Joel lied about giving Maeve a charm bracelet. Emily warned Dee Dee that Joel lied to her and that he still had his apartment. Dee Dee got Joels's keys and went to the apartment. After a search, she found a bottle of red nail polish and demanded to know who he had there. Joel seemed to convince Dee Dee that he had been sub-letting the apartment, and he only kept it from her because it was illegal, and he was embarrassed. Dee Dee asked where he got the charm bracelet, but he didn't answer. She played along, saying everything was fine, but her smile faded as he walked away.
Stefan makes a move on Coronation Street
Kevin was upset when he heard that Jack was getting grief from kids at school about Abi's videos. Stefan called Kevin and claimed he wanted to make peace, but while Kevin and Abi were out, Stefan showed up at the house and told Jack he was in a car ride service. Jack let Stefan in and left him alone in the house while he went next door to buy cream for his tea. When Kevin and Abi returned, they realized Stefan had been there, and the burner phone had gone missing.
