On The Bold and the Beautiful, the Forresters and the Logans have met an impasse. For decades, there have been numerous arguments, hurt feelings, spouse swaps, cheating, and food fights between the Logan and Forrester women and men, and once again, we’ve hit a stand-off.

It all began to escalate when Hope (Annika Noelle) set her sights on Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) husband, Finn (Tanner Novlan). Steffy could see what Hope was doing, but Finn thought there was nothing more than friendship between him and Hope.

Hope’s crush on Finn became an infatuation, and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) often found her daughter daydreaming or staring at Finn from across the room. While Hope assured her mom she wouldn’t act on her feelings, she did make comments about how Finn deserved better than Steffy and didn’t feel that his wife appreciated him.

Eventually, Hope saw an opportunity and kissed Finn at a party. She had been drinking champagne, and Steffy left the room to take a call. Hope pulled Finn aside and kissed him. At first, Steffy was upset with Finn for not heeding her warnings, but after a stint in a cage during a psycho kidnapping escapade, Finn saved Steffy, and they were back on track.

Hope and Steffy, however, were not. Being Hope’s boss, Steffy put her on notice that if she crossed the line with Finn again, Steffy would cancel Hope’s flailing fashion line, Hope for the Future.

Hope was able to change focus and set her sights on Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) instead, but no one (except Brooke) knew that. After an unfortunate attempt at being sexy for Carter, Steffy walked into an office at the worst possible moment, and caught Hope in lingerie while on top of Finn. But, afraid that Carter would be treated differently once their relationship was revealed, Hope didn’t explain that she was expecting Carter in the design office. As a result, Steffy thought Hope was trying to seduce Finn again, and Hope was fired.

The battle lines are drawn

The personal war between Steffy and Hope immediately escalated to the board room. Along with firing Hope, Steffy canceled the Hope for the Future fashion line. Carter, the company's COO, and Hope's new boyfriend saw red.

Carter had already been raising eyebrows. He went from knowing that Hope's line was in trouble and costing the company money to demanding that it be kept running. Within days, Carter was challenging Steffy and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and ordering them to get off Hope’s case.

Being collateral damage hasn’t sat well with Zende (Delon De Metz), either. As lead designer of HFTF, he had his work ripped out from under him. Brooke is upset not only as Hope’s mother — and an executive at Forrester Creations — but as Ridge’s partner. Brooke demanded that Ridge take her side in the matter, but he wouldn't. Not only that, but Ridge backed up Steffy and participated in what Brooke deemed as Hope’s “walk of shame” out of the building.

On the Forrester side, there are Ridge and Steffy. Eric (John McCook) disagreed with the decision, but he didn’t overrule it. However, as Steffy pointed out to Carter, Forrester Creations is a private company, and she and Ridge call the shots as co-CEOs.

On the Logan side, Hope has more than family in her corner. While none of them have their name on the building, she has a strong support base from her mom, Brooke Logan, her aunt and Forrester’s Head of Public Relations, Katie Logan (Heather Tom), and company COO, Carter Walton. Zende is a Forrester, but he worked with Hope and has already let his cousin Steffy know how much he disagrees with her business decisions.

Additionally, there is RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman), a less-experienced designer and the half-brother of both Hope and Steffy. Where the rest of the employees stand is hard to say, but Hope clearly has a fan base with the models and interns, while Steffy looks like the aggressor.

What happens next

So what are the options? While not ideal, the Logan side could pack up and move somewhere they feel appreciated. Carter has been pitching an idea to expand Forrester through mergers and acquisitions to make it a global luxury brand. He was met with resistance, even when he offered to invest his own money into the venture.

But the Logans could branch out on their own and be a contender to Forrester (remember Spectra Fashions?). Katie is close to Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), and if he knew of a venture that would have anything to do with upsetting Ridge, he’d be all over it as an investor. Bill would probably even have the money to turn Carter’s idea for a global brand into a reality.

What isn’t clear at the moment is how Forrester is owned and run. It is a private company, but who exactly owns how much of it could easily be tailored for storyline purposes with a little bit of revisionist history.

Recently, Steffy had an issue with Ridge suggesting that Brooke take his co-CEO position. Brooke apparently didn’t, but she is still on the “executive team,” although we’re not sure what that means, exactly, or how much say an executive has.

Is there a rule in the Forrester handbook that says the executive team can vote on a decision? Or even overthrow a CEO from their position if they lack confidence in their leadership? For all we know, Eric could have given his brother John (Fred Willard) a little percentage of Forrester. If Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) inherited it, she could be an interesting swing vote in that scenario.

Carter promised he would not let Steffy get away with making the executive decision to fire Hope. On Friday of this week, he tells Hope that "Steffy and Ridge handed them the answer." Did Carter find a way to take over Forrester Creations? Time will tell if he can bring back hope for all of their futures.
