On The Bold and the Beautiful, whether it’s murder, captivity, or being a sexual predator, Luna likes being a repeat offender. So this week came as little surprise when she concocted a sinister plan immediately upon finding out that there was going to be a party at Il Giardino for her wannabe boyfriend. Luna put her quickly created master plan into action and got her “desired” results. Let’s grab the biggest scoops shovels we can find and dig in, shall we?

Deacon was so excited that he was going to make a mint from Forrester money that he didn’t even notice the employee he never hired working behind the bar. Lucky for Luna, she miraculously healed from her gunshot wound that nearly had her on death’s door just days ago. Even luckier for our resident psycho is that her Auntie Grandma fitted her room with a dresser full of clothes. Well, not full of clothes, but a head-to-toe black outfit in the middle of L.A.’s summer was convenient to have on hand by itself in the bottom drawer.

But Luna needed more than an outfit — she needed an amazing disguise. While Luna somehow had access to money or a costume shop, she chose a wig and tinted sunglasses for the job, then skipped off to work.

Sure, a black top and black pants helped make Luna blend in with the other employees, but no one had actually hired an outside bartender. Showing up and apologizing for being late would have probably meant something to Deacon or Sheila, except they were busy upstairs, almost having sex to celebrate the money they were going to make from this one party. (Either Katie tips really well, or maybe Deacon should consider upping the price on his pizzas!) But the guy who replaced Hollis didn’t know there was no other employee he was supposed to train behind the bar, and just handed the cash register over to the stranger with the weird hair and glasses.

Employee of the month

Luna went unnoticed, but managed to have a bottle of 180-proof alcohol that had zero taste land in her hands. Does this girl’s luck ever run out? She had Will drunk in no time, and without his mom at the party she was hosting, he was able to get tanked and enjoy himself. He took in the accolades, blushed when Laney flirted, danced with Electra, and had big hopes that she’d follow through with her hints that she was finally ready to lose her virginity.

Unfortunately for Prince Charming, Electra bailed on the idea when Will offered to take her home. While Electra had just pointed out to Ivy that she’s a grown woman now and can make her own choices about her body, she chose to wait another 24 hours for him to sober up. Can’t say we blame her on that one. When Electra pointed out that his mom was at his house, Will sealed his fate by saying he’d just sneak her in. Ah yes, what every grown woman wants to hear.

Speaking of hearing, I’m going to skip over the reiterated conversations about Remy, making choices about when you’re ready for sex, how great the party was, and yay for Toni, who also got promoted but was then glossed over at the party.

Meanwhile, Auntie Grandma was having a kiniption because Luna was missing. She sounded the alarms to Sheila, reminding her repeatedly that no one could know Luna was alive, got hung up on, then ran out the door to find Luna. Where? Like actually, where did she look for her? Sheila just went downstairs, the obvious place where Luna could be. And she was there, but with a disguise like tinted glasses, she was safe.

So Luna hid while Sheila hunted, then went back to hovering nearby over every conversation Will had, with a menacing grin that screamed predator, except no one noticed but the viewers. In another dose of pure luck, Zende found the masks they’d used for a previous party and handed them out. It was like fate that Luna’s whim could be carried out with such precision.

Oops, she did it again

Unfortunately, it went there. Will was drunk, a predator let themselves in, and he had sex with them, thinking they were someone else. Maybe at first glance, he didn’t know. Maybe he was too drunk to care when Laney hit on him, or maybe he was so drunk that he could stand, dance, walk, and talk, but couldn’t see Luna’s face when it was four inches from his own several times as he got another drink at the bar. But by then, it was pushing it.

There is no way that he couldn’t feel her wig. There was no way that her body was the same shape and feel as Electra’s. He was drunk, yes. But he was awake and alert enough that when she removed her mask, and he was kissing her, he would have noticed. But he didn’t.

And now, Luna’s done it again. She preyed, she succeeded…and someone in fake L.A. had unwanted, non-consensual sex, and they’ll never be held accountable in the way that they should. Instead, Luna will be pregnant and a constant presence, treated as a nuisance, and not a convicted rapist. Just makes you wonder if the roles were reversed, would we be having this conversation?

So how did we get here?

Was it that long ago that Li was telling off Bill for dating her sister, whose crime was carrying some enhanced mints and an affection for free love at music festivals? Well, at the time it was. Since then, Poppy’s downgraded herself in the courts of public perception to having sex with her nephew…but he was an adult, and it was consensual. Odd though, in retrospect, the emphasis on that was how wrong it was because an older woman manipulated poor Finn. Inappropriate? Hell yes. But statutory rape? No.

Then there was what Luna did to Zende. She claimed she’d unknowingly eaten the magic mints and had sex with Zende, but didn’t want to, making him beat himself up about unwittingly being a rapist. Rather sick and twisted, especially when Luna later laughed about it and said she had tricked him intentionally, and it was the best sex of her life.

Look, whether or not it’s realistically depicted in a graphic drama or on a daytime soap, this topic’s no joke, and it feels like (once again) it’s being taken lightly and used gratuitously for an unneeded twist. If we’re going to go there, at least have the right outcome for the wrongs being done without pardons, mansion home arrests, and toe cookies.
