WATCH: Krista Allen dishes on playing B&B's Taylor

The Bold and the Beautiful's Krista Allen opens up about stepping into the role of Taylor Hayes, who the actress says is "a lot more cautious now" -- but still crazy in love with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye)!

She's only been on-screen a couple of weeks, but The Bold and the Beautiful newcomer Krista Allen is already a huge hit. She's been rocking it as a recast in the role of Taylor Hayes, but there's one thing she admits she hasn't been rocking: the wig that she's been wearing since her debut!

In a new interview on Bold Live with B&B supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk, Allen explains that the wig was necessary to make her look more like the Taylor that viewers remember.

"It's been such a hard thing because some people think that I actually, that I am, like, choosing to wear a wig because I think it looks beautiful," she shares. "So, right when I got cast for this part, my hair was a short, blond pixie. It was like... it's been growing, right? But it was blonde, and I started working within -- what, I think it was within a week I was on set, you know. So, we didn't have time, and I had to take my hair back from blonde to dark brown, and so, we needed a little bit of time, so we thought, let's do a wig; that'd be great... We all thought, 'That'll be awesome!' But it just didn't work.... At some point it's all going to be something that's really funny... we know that the wig is bad!"

Once the hair issue was thoroughly discussed and, ahem, swept aside, Allen jumped into the techniques she's used to step into Taylor's shoes, one of them being a lot of research.

"This character, she was created impeccably by Hunter [Tylo]. She's been around for a long time, and you guys know her very well, and there are certain elements to her that are really important," the actress explains. "Somebody else laid the groundwork and did such an amazing job, and I wanted to do that justice, so I watched [old episodes], and I studied."

Allen also notes that she has innate characteristics that are very similar to Taylor's, one those being the ability to exude strength and vulnerability simultaneously.

"She's very sweet, but she's grown, she's lived a life, she's had a lot of things happen, and she's a lot more cautious now," the actress sums up of Taylor's essence. "She's still madly in love with Ridge [Thorsten Kaye] and that's what part of this show is, right? And so, it's being able to find all of those different things and play with them and also her love for her family, which is so important to her, especially at this point in her life... but I'm still learning as I'm going, and I'll keep learning!"
