The Bold and the Beautiful's Linsey Godfrey (Caroline Spencer) bravely opens up about being molested by her step father.
The number of women coming forward about personal experiences with sexual abuse in light of the Harvey Weinstein scandal continues to rise, and The Bold and the Beautiful's Linsey Godfrey (Caroline Spencer) was inspired by others to share her own harrowing story of assault.
The actress took to social media with a message that brings to light some deeply personal experiences she suffered through as a child and young teenage girl. She begins by expressing her concern about the Weinstein situation, explaining that it prompted a tightness in her chest and a knot in her stomach.
"I couldn't breathe, I was fighting constant tears as I went about my day running errands and picking my daughter up from school," she writes about first hearing about the scandal. "I found myself in my doctor's office in a full blown anxiety attack. I was sobbing, unable to speak without a stutter. I started to realize why these stories coming to light hit me so hard... It's something I've never really said out loud before. I am a sexual abuse survivor. My step father, who I called dad,' molested me from the age of seven until fourteen years old. It started small, groping and rubbing over my clothes on my breasts, between my legs and butt. Even now as I write this, I find it hard to say he rubbed my vagina over my clothes."

Godfrey goes on to describe even more inappropriate experiences, including a horrifying time when he forced himself inside of her after a night of drinking.
"I never spoke about it, scared people would judge me for being the victim. No more. Today, I share my story in hopes other women will share theirs too," she writes. "Please, I implore you: don't be silent. Speak out against your attacker, even if it's as simple as responding to this post. #metoo"
Godfrey was extremely brave to share such a personal experience, and she's not alone. Just last week, soap alum Sarah Joy Brown (ex-Madison James, Days of our Lives; ex-Agnes Jones, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Claudia Zacchara, General Hospital) also revealed that she experienced extreme sexual harassment from a director in the entertainment business.
